Fauci on masks

There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.” St. Fauci

factcheck.org has an agenda and a bias. they still cant decide if nathan phillips ever lied about saying he was a vietnam vet even though there are videos and other quotes where he clearly said it, anyway I digress, He said it. it was the conventional wisdom for several months, the fact he later admits he lied to us about it doesn't change the context of the time. The only thing it does is show that St. Fauci is not honest and therefore anything he says after is suspect.

Fauci was also caught lying about the percentage we needed for herd immunity.

fauci said he realized the percentage would have to be higher weeks ago, but he hesitated to announce the change because he didn’t want to discourage people from taking the vaccine, he told the New York Times.

He's not honest, and therefore sows distrust. I think we need to practice social distancing, masks indoors, limited gatherings, etc. but when you have #1 and #2 lying and going against thier own advice (brix #2 went to a vacation home for thanksgiving with a large goup of her family).

Thats not a good optic and those already suspect of the virus see this and feel justified not following his guidelines.

I trust Fauci as does over 50% of the nation. This is a novel virus, Fauci, and all the experts are learning as we go.

No I get that. but how can you trust him when it's clear he will bend the truth? In some cases, if masks work, he bent the truth that put us more at risk in the beginning.

That wasn't learning as we go, he admits to lying about masks for 1st responders, then lying about the herd immunity to trick us into getting the vaccine.

I much prefer the honest brutal truth than have a government employee lie to me.

LOL, again, it’s a learn as you go process and even the experts are learning about this virus everyday. Fauci has always claimed his numbers are “guesstimate”

No it wasn't though, fauci said he told us not to wear masks (later) because he wanted to preserve them for 1st line workers.

He also acknowledged that masks were initially not recommended to the general public so that first responders wouldn’t feel the strain of a shortage of PPE.

He explained that public health experts "were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply.”

FAct is he lied to us, twice now on record. the 1st lie may have killed a loved one, just imagine instead if he said "make your own mask save the n95 for healthcare". but he didnt' he said the above.

lock downs dont work, masks make little difference and have unintended consequenses
social distancing and hygiene do work as much as possible

Fauci also may or may not have been channeling this peer reviewed study

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27531371/

tandard N95 mask performance was used as a control to compare the results with cloth masks, and our results suggest that cloth masks are only marginally beneficial in protecting individuals from particles<2.5 μm.

Marco Rubio should go fuck himself right to death. No Republican has any standing to call anyone a liar.
