NEWSMAX: No Voting Machine Fraud

Of course, there was voting fraud. All you need is to don your red slippers, click the heels together 3 times and say 'I believe, I believe, I believe".

People are already being charged with voter fraud. Election fraud is a bigger problem. You can't just wish the evidence away, or that State legislatures are accepting the evidence.

Conspiracy theories tend to increase in periods of high stress (and people with a high level of dopamine).

On conspiracies like JFK or 9/11 I used to get bogged down in explaining details. Then, I realized nobody with all the resources needed to pull off such an event would never be stupid enough to say "let's shoot him from the front and explain it by saying he was shot from behind." Or, "let's plant explosives in those buildings and blame it on an airliner."

Psychoquackery.

I was referring to more recent years when conspiracies have appeared to multiply: Q, pizzagate, birthers, "rigged" elections (2004, 2012, 2016, 2020), Seal Team 6...(of course, Hofstadter's "Paranoid Style in American Politics" shows a much longer trend).

I don't know why it has occurred. As media has to compete more for viewers they also have to sensationalize stories or people will not watch. CNN started out as a hard news station with little politics. People will not read hard news and quit taking newspapers. They want simplicity and thrill that demonizes the other side all included in a Facebook meme.

I have read some interesting books about the cultural split that talks about group behavior and identification. It is from well established research, but I'm not sure why it is affecting politics today. It shows we will choose our group over another even when it is imaginary. One experiment divided people into 2 imaginary groups. They gave them the choice of giving everyone from both groups $100 or giving your group members $60 and the other $40. Most chose the 60-40 even though it meant your side got less.

I have friends and relatives who quit going to Wal-Mart because they heard they gave money to Biden, quit watching professional sports, quit watching certain actors or musicians because of their political views, won't buy Nike.....It just creates more hostility and spreads hate and eliminates things we previously enjoyed. And, I think it is contrary to free market capitalism which rewards good products for decent prices. And, liberals are the same way but their enemies are Hobby Lobby, Chick-Fil-A......

Psychoquackery.

your drug use has made you delusional

TBH, I think it's a mental condition, probably paranoid schizophrenia. His fake forum, which he obviously spent a hundreds of hours on assembling and writing, including his much-advertised manifesto, is an insight into his mind just like Ted Kaczynski's manifesto was an insight into his mind.

Note that INT, IBDa and gfm all have/had links to that manifesto/forum in their signatures (IBDa removed his). Note they are all "mods" on that free online website. https://politiplex.freeforums.net/thread/59/nights-numbered-mantra-list

FWIW, unlike the movies, most paranoid schizophrenics are harmless to others. Their behavior is erratic and they tend to be chronically homeless unless they have a caretaker or guardian. As such, they are more of a danger to themselves than others if untreated and uncared for.

interesting, You are more into this than I am I must admit

Agreed, but those stories (OJ) were actual news and not that political. Also, there was nothing partisan about it (although it became a racial issue).

Sheryl Attkisson's new book ("Slanted") describes how cable news became political and how those on the left and right hate what it has done to journalism.
Yes...it's been a slow transformation. Ironically, long before we became accustomed to 24 hour news, Don Henley described it perfectly in 'Dirty Laundry'.

I've had a strong interest in it since college. My two careers have required me to identify people problems and take corrective action. If INT/IBDa/gfm isn't already getting help, and I suspect he is since he's online, then if he were under my responsibility, I'd be requiring/pushing for him to get help.

I was in sales my rntire career so my psycho needs were rather shallow and I dismiss quickly.

Agreed that Cable News was a watershed moment, but Alvin Toffler's 1970 book "Future Shock" brought the concept of "information overload" to national awareness.

Both the Internet and cable news have contributed to so much information overload that too many Americans are confused and, therefore, seek comfort in confirmation bias by sticking with a narrow selection of views and "newz" AKA infotainment. Real news is seen on a few sources including the 30 minutes at dinner time and bed time from local channels. What is on the cable news networks such as CNN, Fox and MSNBC, now joined by OANN and NewsMax, is primarily commentary, with very little actual news.

Dale Carnegie was also a salesman but, after moderate success, he moved on to great success as an author and Chautauqua lecturer.

Am I mistaken in believing that a working knowledge of human communication and psychology is essential to being a success salesman?

Just the basic knowledge of Each was necessary for me. I was in and out of a business eight times a day everyday so I had to look to situation over quickly and make a judgment.

About 65% of Americans still watch network broadcast news and the local news. The remainder watch cable news and some of that is only occasional.

Nonetheless, it's not broadcast news driving the political bullshit we are seeing on forums and cable news.

They did not deny any statement of theirs.

They denied any knowledge that their statements were true. In answering the questions about the claims they made the guy said he has no information that Dominion was involved in any business in Venezuela, and continued with that line for all the relevant questions.

If you claim you have no knowledge that it is true, you are essentially disavowing any claims you made previously that they were true.

If they could prove any of it was true that is a defense against defamation, but they obviously realized they were fooled by fake news. Anybody listening to those claims about Dominion had to have serious doubts whenever they started bringing Hugo Chavez into the story. Fox and Newsmax should have never aired those stories.
