Here's a link to two videos from yesterday's Hardball. Dick Armey, using rightwing male think, tells Joan Walsh he's happy she can never be his wife so he doesn't have to listen to her prattle. This is two interesting stereotypes. The first being that an accomplished woman expressing her view is "prattling" and the second being that women are desperate to get married so the biggest insult you can pay her is to say you wouldn't marry her. As if Joan Walsh wants to marry this moron.

Afterwards, Bob Herbert does something that few do, and something that Michelle Bernard should have done, but not surprisingly for her, didn't do, and that's refuse to pretend you didn't hear the segment before you. But Herberts is one of the best.

A lot of guys on the right have kind of a twisted idea of what "weak" is. I think Bush had one of the most scaredy-kat admins in recent history, but he's still seen by the right as someone who "took the fight" to terrorists and "didn't back down."

Shock & awe? Not speaking to countries we don't like? Saying "bring 'em on" from the safety of your press conference thousands of miles from harm's way?

Agreed.

After years of being driven crazy by this nonsense - especially in 04 when you had an actual war hero running against an actual cheerleader, and everyone, especially the punditry kept telling swooning stories of how Bush just projected toughness and an ability to keep them safe - I finally realized this is all about mancrushes and actual repressed homosexuality.

And it has nothing to do with either strength, or what women find attractive.

Yes! Besides the fact that I basically grew up here I kept asking myself why I choose to continue to stay and live in San Francisco when it was obvious, at least politically speaking, that I didn't fit in here. That must be the answer. My latent homosexuality! I am free from my burden now! Thank you Darla.

Oh, you mean the official military? I've got a hunch that STY is more open to the opinion of 250 guys who didn't lay eyes on Kerry in Vietnam once, but who insist that the military records on his actions are wrong.
 
you stay in Frisco cause you as investment pro know your odds are alot better with just a handfull of straight guys to choose from for all those hot liberal chicks out there.
