Virus nearly done virusing in Japan

Results: Six hundred fifteen healthy volunteers (mean + SD 40.8 + 10.0; range 19 - 69; 45.7 % female) received at least one test. Seroprevalence increased from 5.8 % to 46.8 % over the course of the summer.

Translation: nearly half the of those tested were COVID immune by the end of summer. No wonder Japan is quiet.

JPP herd immunity/science deniers may want to prepare for a little back-tracking.

Herd immunity my ass.

YOU PEOPLE HAVE HERD MENTALITY!

SHEEP MENTALITY!

IDIOTS!

I'm not interested in your cherry picked snippets that offer speculation. I'm interested in the admission that the study was flawed, and herd immunity simply doesn't occur due to the fleeting nature of the antibodies in the blood.

You offered a study that proves your assertions are nonsense.

Something we've been telling you for months.

I understand that you don’t like the question.

All good.

Don’t understand why you are still pushing the herd immunity there “DO,” as Fauci lectured Paul yesterday, estimates conclude it would take a 77% infection rate to attain a herd immunity, currently the US rate is around 20%, with 200,000+ dead, imagine the dead Americans if we went with a herd approach approach

Without a vaccine, herd immunity is a fantasy, and please, don’t bring up Sweden, it hasn’t worked there either

All of these scientists with their categorical statements dropping out of the woodwork lol.

Prove—with science, that herd immunity has been excluded in Sweden.

Virus nearly done virusing in Japan

Viruses lack the ability to get bored and quit, so they never get done trying to do the sole thing they try to do. That is why we need defenses against them.

Japan worked hard on contact tracing to block the virus. They wear masks militantly, and do not even get me started on how well they obey social distancing. None of this encourages herd immunity, but it does act to block the virus.

To whatever extent masks actually slow the rate of transmission that translates into slowing down the race to herd immunity.

You ‘want’ as many people as possible to get infected because infection confers immunity.

Given that it is proven that people can get Covid-19 twice, there are questions whether infections confer immunity for long.

And given that you want to confer herd immunity to stop infections, it is sort of pointless to spread the disease to stop the disease.

You’re as confused as ever, Alt Walt lol.

Anecdotal evidence of repeat infections—is anecdotal evidence, and well short of ‘proof’. Given the ridiculously high rate of false positives with PCR tests, it’s more likely a case of being labeled positive the first time—when they weren’t actually positive.

And without herd immunity there is no ‘stopping the disease’; how do you think vaccines work?

Lockdowns, masks etc don’t stop anything: they only suppress the rate of infection *temporarily*. To whatever extent they are effective at that.

You make two claims sans evidence.
Have at it sport.
There is ample evidence presented on this very board, video in some cases, that masks do virtually nothing while a country is showing the way on the herd.

A doctor blowing vape smoke through his mask does not constitute a proof.

You do not know what worked in Japan. Some suggest they had a historical immunity from earlier viruses. Others suggest Japan's normal use of masks was the reason they were spared the worst of it.
