Agreed on masks preventing spreading the disease. As all sane and intelligent Americans know, the N95 mask is to prevent catching the virus as opposed to spreading it. The person you are conversing with is intelligent, but he doesn't have all the dots on his dice. Ergo, don't expect a rational answer.

Yes, it'd be great if we all had N95 masks, face shields and hazmat suits, but that's impractical in a nation of 328M. Doing what we can to prevent spreading the virus is rational. Those who are against are irrational.

It's both and your will ignorance is irrational. Masks, even bandanas, help prevent the spread of disease. Thanks to Trump's ineptness in handling this crisis, we'd all be lucky not to have to wear hazmat suits.

You could always try bubble wrap. You could always try wearing scuba gear everywhere you go. None of it will stop a virus. Face shields won't stop a virus either. Covid19 is airborne. It just goes around a face shield.

If you are so scared of Covid19 (it's actually milder than many flu viruses), stay home when sick. Masks do nothing. 6 feet does nothing. Plastic barriers and face shields do nothing. Picking and choosing which businesses are allowed to operate and which aren't does nothing and is unconstitutional. Fascism is unconstitutional in the United States.

Correct, as any sane, intelligent and educated adult can tell you.

Sane people have home fire insurance. It's a protective measure. They wear rubber gloves when skinning rabbits and hogs. Not a guarantee, but a simply attempt to avoid trichinosis. They'd look funny at a doctor operating on an open wound who didn't wear a surgical mask. The mask isn't to protect the doctor from disease but to protect the patient. People who are now saying "masks don't work" are either completely ignorant of these other things or operating on something other than common sense.

Masks do not stop viruses. See the N95 specifications, which you still deny. Masks in surgery do not protect the patient from viruses. Any surgeon working on a patient while he's sick is liable for malpractice suits.

NYC did not make any kind of N95 specification with their face covering law. Masks decrease the chances of spreading Covid-19 to others. They are not useless.

Masks can have openings as small as the n95 and large enough to pick your nose through. If the n95 stops 100,000 particles, 5000 still make it through your mask every breath you take.
