Nah, too many innocents would suffer needlessly. This cannot be allowed to happen under any circumstance. Honestly, I think they're just posturing and pandering and have no intention of abolishing or defunding the police. How are they going to come take our guns with no cops? Actually, this isn't the first time a town has disbanded the police force. Compton, CA went bankrupt and could no longer afford to pay for a police force.

County sheriffs took on the job, and of course police services were heavily curtailed, with the inevitable increase in crime.

Well, I hate to piss in your Cheerios (not really), but life is pretty good here. Little has changed other than I'm asked to wear a mask when entering businesses. I oblige their request out of respect for others.
I still go groundhog hunting, to the gun club, drive my car where and when I please, sit on my ass and come here to argue with often stupid people when I'm bored. So yeah, life is fine.

I don't wear a mask for Covid protection or politeness. N95 masks have absolute no ability to stop a virus, and cloth masks are even worse. To me, they just make one look like a hypochondriac dork. As far as I'm concerned, they are good luck charms.
