Yesterday, Donald Trump authorized regulatory agencies to roll things back to where they were on and even before the Nixon administration.

With a big wet kiss to his billionaire funders in the fossil fuel, chemical, and other industries, Trump signed an executive order ordering the heads of every federal agency “to use any and all authority to waive, suspend, and eliminate unnecessary regulations that impede economic recovery.”

Trump has laid waste to just about every source of information we have: the media, certainly. But also our intel community, the scientific/medical community, experts in pretty much any field, etc.

It's been masterful work. He came in to create the post-truth era, and that's exactly what he has accomplished. We now live in a reality of "alternative facts," or, whatever anyone decides the truth is (and those in authority, like him, have more say in that).

The ramifications from this are not reversible. We will live this way now, with public trust in something as basic as science at a low level.

You might be. But are you denying some of the things that are happening right now? Dead zones, loss of coral reefs, plankton loss, etc. We're not that far into the industrial revolution, and we're treating it like kids. Mankind should dominate the planet for thousands if not millions of years - and look at how things have reacted to just a few hundred years of real industrial activity.

I don't care about AGW arguments. I just think we need to be more mindful. We can live the way we want to live and still plan it around more sustainability instead of just draining our resources and polluting air & water without much regard to what happens after our lifetimes.
