Who had a worse week?

Well, we took Soleimani out we zero boots.

We learned a lot last week. Trump needs to pull out of the stupid war like he promised.

Under Pres. Trump, the ground war is over.

The whole paradigm has changed with our oil independence. We don't really need to keep the Straits of Hormuz open. And I really like the president's Head Hunting policy.

We see that just taking out Solemani and Al Bagdhadi has created a new better paradigm for the Iranian people and for the Kurds.

The people over there like it better than the media will admit.

People [very brave people] are in the streets calling for the death of the big Mullah over shooting down the airliner while over here the left is blaming Trump for it.

University students though, I see no large popular support; with the caveat we just DID SEE large protests nationwide..who knows..:dunno:

The young are immortal. Remember when you took to the streets to protest. I bet there weren't a lot of oldsters.

the only thing I worry about is an Iranian actual force rolling into Baghdad, but I think that's not realistic either

I don't think it's realistic either. Terror against unarmed civilians is their method of choice.

The Iranian so-called gov't doesn't even respect Diplomatic Rules. Something all other countries do even during war.

They could maybe pull it off, but they don't need to - Iraq is a virtual puppet government of Iran
~~
seems to me we can do all the counter-terrorism we need to do by air?

Well, Irani control of the Iraqi gov't just got a lot weaker. And all those missiles landed in Sunni areas. The vote to remove U.S. troops was strictly partisan. The gov't is divided.

Yes, by air, but we still need some troops to protect our air bases, and the Elite forces to do some special jobs.

I could live with the airbases, but we need to GTFO of Syria - such a small contingent is only capable of self force protection

not at first, but the Vietnam anti-war protests became mainstream ( and we elected Nixon anyways..lol)

I don't recall a lot of WW2 vets marching in the streets, but I'll take your word for it.

I thought we did get out of Syria ... except to provide protection to the oil fields (for the Kurds) with special forces.

so we are not out!
and really with such a small force, we can't even do that if challenged. we are sitting ducks
