Mark Sanford announces Republican primary challenge against Trump

I think I've figured out the best strategy Mark should use to get more popularity and name recognition. He should have his son (If he has one) join him on his campaign. Then he could name it....wait for it....."Sanford and Son". Cue the Quincy Jones theme music.....

Not be exposed? What is it you think we don’t know about Trump today that exists to be exposed?

And people are arguing out of both sides of their mouth saying he’s the most popular Republican president of our lifetime but he’s vulnerable to a primary challenge ala Jimmy Carter.

I’m aware of no primary challengers over taking a sitting president. And the closest to do it my lifetime was a a famous senator who had a brother who had been president. Not someone most people have never heard of and is basically an asshat.

THE lack of facts/knowledge of the man bullshitting his way in the wht house, anyway, I wannna see it, & I hope it comes off..........

You won't be required to tune in ....:)

Sanford has about the same chance as a snowball in hades or throwing a pork chop past a wolf.

Sanford; a guy who lied about an affair and lost his job as a result? He won't even get 1% of the vote if any. He's a complete waste of time; however, the PHONY media will give him a megaphone and use it with their equally stupid narrative suggesting that Trump has lost support.

DUMB.
Didn't seem to hurt trump all that much.:dunno:

There will be no fights on the Republican side. Just shrill denunciations from these loons who hate Trump and which the PHONY media will hand a megaphone to to give the APPEARANCE that there is discord in the Republican Party.

When all the dust settles and the shrill outcries subside; Trump will win re-election and continue with his economy boosting policies. ;)

Just like they did w/ the dem debates... Like it was a wrestling event-even trying to set ppl up to fight-was disgusting...

This guy mark whats his name is akin to Ralph Nader running, or Pat Paulson back in the day

you can't run against an incumbent in your own party, insane

Didn't seem to hurt BillyBob; who banged interns while in the White House either. ;)

I am amused when leftists whine about "perceived" affairs from a guy who ISN'T in office while having supported a creep who banged them while IN office.

The PHONY media are promoting another FALSE narrative hoping that the majority of Americans are as stupid as the Party of the Jackass constituency are. ;)

So... affairs with goat farmers - relevant.
Affairs with porn stars - not relevant.

still trying to keep up.

WHy are affairs in Argentina relevant, but affairs with porn stars not relevant?

Hi Bill,

Former congressman Mark Sanford announced Sunday that he will challenge President Trump in the 2020 Republican primary, becoming the third GOP contender in the race to unseat the incumbent.

Sanford made the announcement in an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I am here to tell you now that I am going to get in,” he said.

Sanford, a former South Carolina governor who represented the state’s 1st Congressional District in the House until earlier this year, had been mulling a bid against the president for weeks.

Trump’s presidential campaign dismissed Sanford’s entry into the race.

“Irrelevant,” Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said.

The president remains immensely popular among Republican voters: According to a Monmouth University poll released last month, 84 percent of Republicans approve of

Trump’s job performance. His highest recent approval mark among fellow Republicans was 88 percent in a Fox News poll of registered voters in early August.

Those numbers would suggest that, like other Trump challengers, Sanford has lower odds of actually defeating the president than of successfully criticizing him in a way that could affect the general election.

Limiting government spending was a key focus of Sanford’s time in public office. And he has previously said he was motivated to consider a bid against Trump out of concern over the federal debt and deficit.

On Sunday, he said the country needs to have a conversation about the “degree to which institutions and political culture are being damaged by this president.”

Asked by host Chris Wallace whether he seriously thinks he has a chance of beating Trump, Sanford responded, “I’m saying, you never know.”

“I’m listing my goals, my primary goals, to say, let’s go out and force — or try and create — a conversation on that which is not being talked about in this presidential cycle. ... The thing that has been lacking in this debate has been an earnest and real conversation on debt and deficits and government spending,” he said.

The only problem with making the debt your main focus is that Republicans don't care about the debt.

Hello Darth,

With approval numbers hovering around 90% what needs fixed for Trump lol?

Those approval numbers are largely from people who don't know they have other choices, and are simply assuming they are to choose between Trump or Democrats.
