The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born

The Bible says to accept immigrants. That would include immigrants who are legally applying for asylum. But, sure, let's just say that's "out of context."
Funny how when it comes to things like homosexuality, all of a sudden there's no talk of context, it's just right there in black and white.

Unlike the Righties, I'm consistent. I don't want a theocracy, period. I don't not want a theocracy when we're talking about immigration, and then want a theocracy when we're talking about marriage.

Please stop. You're all mixed up. I never ever stated ANYwhere I want a theocracy concerning ANY matters. We have a Republic.
No matter how I might feel personally about any of our laws, I must still conduct myself as an American citizen. If my grievance
with any of our laws ticks me off enough, I'll contact the appropriate politician and state my case to them. I won't become violent,
burn our flag, riot or urge others to break the law.
Foreigners should be treated as native-born, right? Well then both foreigners AND native-born must obey our laws or face the consequences.

I expect that if He were to weigh in now, given the complexity of our world, he would exhort His followers to do something to change government policy in order to follow His command to "love thy neighbor as thyself." Central and South America are, of course, our neighbors. What if we invested foreign aid to build up their countries, work to empower them to get rid of their corrupt governments, and encourage capitalism from the lowest-income people on up? Eco-tourism, native crafts and arts, farming including exotic plants and fruits, and other ways to make a decent living with a minimum of capital investment are what the Peace Corp, missionaries, Oxfam and others have tried to bring in to third world countries. But first off, they need help ridding themselves of those cartels and criminals that prey on them.
why do you expect tht?because your preconceptions means go right to the government for all thinsg.

Christ was not about governing -
the one time he addressed it was "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's render unto God what is God;s"

Someone's feeling the burn. Good. You evangelicals are no more true to your faith, or righteous, or heaven-bound than those fundie Islamic radicals that you fear so much. You fear them because you recognize an evil as deep as your own.

Have a nice Sunday, cupcake. Your time is coming to an end, and the world will be better for it.
fuck off.
You are not the judge of man -God is

You simply don’t know what you’re talking about lol.

Exactly.

Since it’s Sunday, here’s a Sunday school question for our erstwhile lefty theologians lol: who was it that was trying to ‘catch Jesus in his words’ in that NT passage?

Maybe you should grab your "lil arsenal" and send us to hell right now.
Whatchasay, hateful hypocrite? Make the world a better place right now...

She's a Christian like I'm a 747 pilot. There are a number of Bible verses pertaining to how Jews (OT) and Christians (NT) are to treat strangers and "aliens." The most famous one, of course, is the story of the Good Samaritan. There are also quotes from Jesus admonishing His followers to care for "the least of these." Of course, conservatives being the selfish "I got mine so fuck the rest of you" types like good ol' Stretch here, they've managed to twist and corrupt even those words into meaning that they should only care about other Xtians. Fuck everyone else. Check this out:

"“The least of these” refers to other believers in need—specifically, itinerant Christian teachers dependent on other Christians for hospitality and support. That’s my answer to the title of this blog post."

The least of these? You mean all those for which you claim to care yet want someone else taxed to support?

The ten commandments also had nothing to do with the goyim

The very words of the ten commandments clearly tells us that the commandments were for the Jewish people ONLY!

one of the hazards of being a YHWH denying Semite is that you've never learned the Torah.....
Deut 4:6 Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

It's not out of context and there are plenty of other parts of the Bible that say the same thing. The New Testament is pretty consistent on immigrants and refugees.

Now I don't think America should be a theocracy, but I do think this massive contradiction shows that the Right doesn't really believe in anything.

since the issue isn't immigrants or refugees, but people violating our laws it is not being used in context.......

I watched a TV show a few months back highlighting a family of 9 children living in a RV as dad and mom did their preacher schtick around the county. They mooched off untold numbers of congregations doing 'god's work'

'christian' grifters everywhere

....../grins......and you've based your entire argument on 11 people, 9 of which had no say in the matter........love it....

I love how the atheist here try to use the bible against us. Here is a little food for thought atheist, if God doesn't exist then the commandments in the bible don't apply. So which is it? You can't have it both ways.

The Bible says to accept immigrants.

that's not what the Bible says......sorry.....

That would include immigrants who are legally applying for asylum.

the people being removed right now have been denied asylum after a following of all due process......

you want to use scripture to attack religion but ignore it when you don't want to attack religion........consistently, I admit......

It's just a coincidence, I'm sure, and not an act of gawd, that yesterday's Pearls describes some of our self-described Xtians here. lol

How do you know who is an atheist and who isn't? Even if we are not currently Xtian, most of us were raised in that faith and some of us know the Bible far better than some who loudly proclaim that they know Jesus better than you.

Some religionists claim that we are a "Christian nation," which they think means that we were founded on that faith and it's our national religion, or should be. They want us all to follow their god and their god's teachings and commandments. Yet when it's pointed out that *they* are not following those teachings and commandments, suddenly we're "hypocrites" and "weaponizing the Bible" and "taking everything out of context."
