Gulf of Oman tanker attacks: US says video shows Iran removing mine



The US military has released a video which it says shows Iranian special forces removing an unexploded mine from the side of an oil tanker damaged in an attack in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday.

The US also released images of the Japanese tanker apparently showing the unexploded mine before it was removed.

A Norwegian tanker in the gulf also reported being hit by three blasts.

The US accused Iran of being behind the attacks. Iran said it "categorically" rejected the allegation.

The blasts came a month after four oil tankers were damaged in an attack off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. The US blamed Iran for that attack, but did not produce evidence. Iran also denied those accusations.


~ The operator of the Kokuka Courageous, BSM Ship Management, said its crew abandoned ship after observing a fire and an unexploded mine.

The Kokuka Courageous was about 30km (20 miles) off the Iranian coast when it sent its emergency call

Anyone with a thousand dollars can get a limpet mine. Silly. They rescued the ship... not evidence they placed the mine. Dumb. I’m surprised our Navy didn’t do the rescue.

Conservatives and other Cheerleaders for the Iraq War Disaster are trying to fabricate excuses to gin up another failed war on a middle eastern country.
 
Trump, Bolton, and Pompeo want a war with Iraq, I remember the Gulf of Tonkin and do not trust them at all. The military justifies its existence with war, They only want fighting and increasing military budgets. There are no peaceful people in the equation. Bolton is a PNAC neocon who was in on the project that was after war after war in the middle east. Iraq was the first one. If it went quicker, the plan was to move on. Neocons did not die. They are still moving the military and right-wing politics.

do you know where to get them? It would have to be a state or from an arms dealer - and then you need a patrol type boat to place them - do you think any other power is going to put a patrol boat into/near Iranian waters?

I have no idea why you refuse to accept the obvious, Iran has meddled in the Strait before as well

but if you look at the circumstantial evidence it's really impossible to point to anyone but Iran

I fully expect the Trump administration and your rightwing friends on this board to continue beating the war drums, fabricating reasons that Iran is a mortal threat, and basically using the same tactics that got us into the Iraq War Disaster.

If you really were against the Iraq War Disaster, I expect to see you on this board calling down your rightwing buddies for exaggerating, fabricting, and beating the war drums for a conflict with Iran.

If you don't call them down, I am going to have serious doubts you ever were actually against the Iraq War. Are you like Trump, who claims to have been against the Iraq War - but only belatedly and only after the fact??

Gulf of Tonkin ring a bell? sorry, I do not trust the military. They are politicized nowadays more than ever. Most agree that a desperate Trump would start a war to get re-elected. Trump is desperate. He will spend mega-billions and kill many thousands to keep the law away from his door. I need more than that photo. The ships were Japanese and Japan and Iran were in meetings when the mines went off. They were not very powerful. The timing is way too awkward to ignore.

And bear in mind- none of these other anti-Iran actors want to experience war with Iran themselves. ALL of them, Izrael included want Americans to do the bleeding.
