Warren's platform - Reparations for the black folk and Abolish the Electoral college

Warren also came out in favor of eliminating of the electoral college, the most pointed instance of her opposition to the polarizing mechanism the nation uses to elect its presidents.

She has been critical of the electoral college in the past, saying last year that Trump’s 2016 victory — despite Democrat Hillary Clinton’s winning 3 million more total votes — is “not exactly the sign of a healthy democracy.”
she's a clueless fraud the electoral college was designed just like the Congress for the same reasons

You already defined your guiding principle as "the will of the majority". You can't have that without direct democracy. :dunno:

Did you read the definition?
Representative democracy (also indirect democracy, representative government or psephocracy) is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy."

I'm good with electing Congressmen and Senators.

we are a Republic not a democracy

"I often hear people argue that the United States is a republic, not a democracy. But that’s a false dichotomy. A common definition of “republic” is, to quote the American Heritage Dictionary, “A political order in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who are entitled to vote for officers and representatives responsible to them” — we are that. A common definition of “democracy” is, “Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives” — we are that, too."

Seems to me that talk of reparations is no different to buying votes. Strangely enough that is something that 'shithole countries' do a lot.

CIA World Fact-book:

United States:

" Government type:

Constitution-based federal republic; strong democratic tradition"

We have a first past the post system here, there have been several attempts to introduce proportional representation but they've always floundered.

Winston Churchill is re-elected as Prime Minister, with the Conservatives and their allies the National Liberals winning 321 seats. This is despite Labour candidates receiving over 230,000 more votes, and only 295 going to Westminster.

General Elections, Feb. 1974

Harold Wilson is elected as Prime Minister with a minority government, with 4 more seats than the Tories (301-297). This is despite the latter party receiving over 226,000 more votes.

General Elections in England, 2005

Even though Labour wins the most seats in England (286) over 64,000 more English voters cast their ballot for a Conservative candidate, but only 194 are sent to Westminster (although Labour still wins the popular vote UK-wide).

its ironic......she has to be president to change the electoral college but because of the electoral college she won't be president.........

Yes, I read your guiding principle and accept your concession that you do not support "the will of the majority".

The Senate gives disproportionate representation and power to low pop. States. Why do you support keeping the Senate?

You trash your own principles when convenient. :palm:

Maybe a little too wary. In the early days, you had to own land in order to be allowed to vote.

Why would there be a rebellion? Everyone's vote would still count. One person, one vote.

Not necessarily. Trump is still possibly the least popular president in history. He's mentally ill, and it seems like he's getting worse, and his economic policies are going to create a recession. If that happens within the year, running on the "Trump Sucks" platform might be enough.

Has a single Trump prediction made by the left come true lol?

I can’t think of one.

The EC is important in presidential politics because it forces everyone to the middle. That’s why both liberals and conservatives are forced to ‘pivot to the middle’ after surviving their respective primaries. So the EC serves as a moderating force in that sense.

As it stands, a Warren or a Bernie are way out in left field with respect to large swathes of the electorate in various regions. And since they would plausibly carry the hyper-populated regions and become President via pure democracy, then the results would be predictable.

And quite plausibly, not very pretty.

How about democrats moderate their message after winning their primary instead of making wholesale changes to the system just so they can win?

They claim to care yet support things that show they believe blacks can't make it on their own and have to rely on other people to survive.

They are latent racists. Why do you think they hurl that insult so foolishly against everyone who disagrees with them?

'One Man, One Vote' for Senators. 'One Man, One Vote' for Congressmen. 'One Man, One Vote' for Governors. Do you see a trend here?
