Put families on the street or raise taxes on the rich.

Get this straight all you right wing wanks that are spitting out the party line about taxing being bad , are wrong. These companies use this countries infrastructure and this countries markets to become wealthy as do the people who become wealthy, they owe this country big time. They have to pay, and I mean more, not less.

They already pay the overwhelming majority of the taxes. How much more do you want? What moral directive gives you the right to other people's property?

Hello Kacper,

Could cap the amount of gains eligible for special treatment. Could force employers to create portable investment accounts as part of payroll. The justification for the special treatment of long term gains is that the money is often already taxed and it is being retaxed without indexing for inflation. Eliminate them and you will see growing demands for eliminating the corporate taxes on dividends.

Taxing the rich more will generate more revenue. Same income, higher tax, more revenue. The government needs more revenue. Revenue is insufficient to meet expenditures. The entire deficit is added onto the debt each year.

We've got a big country, getting bigger all the time. More people, more spending, bigger economy. Our government must grow to keep up with that. And consider; our government has grown constantly throughout our history. As our government has grown, so has our economy. Everything we have now, our whole country, our giant government that tries to be everything to everyone, all our people, everything we've built; all of it, it all happened as we let government grow to the size it is today. Big government has not hurt us. I honestly don't know what the problem is for the right. My taxes are about as low as I can remember. So are everybody's. The rich have had their taxes cut to a THIRD of what they once were. We've got it good.

We've got it good and part of the problem is we have it a little too good. We have not paid in as much as we have spent. We are short. So we need to cover that. We have to pay for yesterday's bills. We can't blow this off. It's our collective debt. We, the people, are responsible for that debt. It's all ours. Nobody else's.

The only possible time we can begin to pay that down is when our economy is doing well. We certainly can't do it during a recession.

The trust that the world has in the United States, our 'credit,' is on the line. And this is important, because world approval of the USA has been falling. We have to pay down our debt. We have to make good on our word.

Hello.

Does any of this make any sense.

Now is the time to tax the rich more, and now is the time for them to pay for the great country which has favored them so well.

Uncle Sam is proud to be the economic playground of our most advantaged citizens. But Uncle Sam needs a little help. Surely these fine people can do what it takes. Really, they are the only ones who could afford to do it without crashing the economy. And we need the economy to pay for what we've spent. So it's got to be the rich. We've got to tax the rich more. Just simple logic. Sorry, rich people. We know it won't hurt you that much. We know you have so much money that your lifestyle will not be affected the least by the required level of taxation. And just think of the awesome sense of accomplishment of being part of the wise ones who gave what they could for their nation, if not their lives, some of their money. (We know some people think the money is more important.)

The math works. We can tax the rich enough to begin paying down the debt.

We could all pay a little bit more tax. But the rich need to haul the heaviest part of the load. It's the only way to shore up world trust in the USA, something it sorely needs about now.

According to supplyside economics, Reaganomics, or trickle down economics, tax decreases are the answer. You should try to develop your argument. There are lots of us who can have some fun with it! You really are a stupid fukking wanker aren't you!

Again, I ask you. When did increasing taxes ever help anyone? I can give plenty of examples where tax CUTS have helped the economy. Even one of your Democrat hero's did it. Can you guess who? And it resulted in a booming ecconomy and increased revenue for the government.

How has that affected or improved the lot of the poor??
NOW THAT'S A REAL INTELLIGENT QUESTION , IT FED THEM AND THEIR FAMILY AND KEPT A ROOF OVER THEIR HEADS , IT HELP PAY FOR EMERGENCY'S AND ILLNESSES AND JUST BAD TIMES THAT COMES TO EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A BOAT LOAD OF MONEY.YOUR RIDICULOUS. JUST AS A SAFETY NET IS SUPPOSE TO DO.

Lets make business pay a livable wage in this country , then I don't have to help a family that has two parents working full time and still not have enough to feed their family and to keep a roof over their heads. We could start there and that would take care of more then half the problem. We just have to squeeze more grease out of the fat in this country.

The only way that a very small group of people can get all the massive profits of this country for 45 years as is the case in this country is done with tax law, tax rates. No one deserves it all and somehow the right thinks they should.

So you should be the decider of what is fair snowflake? This is why the liberal ideology is a massive failure; it begins with this notion that the economic pie is somehow finite and requires political apparatchiks to be the deciders of what is good and fair.

This has failed massively in the Soviet Union, in China, in Cuba and currently in Venezuela. You liberal morons need to find a way to extract your collective heads from your asses and get educated.

At least we're not pretentious. Like those people who are make less than average and consider themselves to be big earners? Those who are mad as hell because they have to pay $4,000 a year in federal income tax, and believe a flat tax is the solution to their problem? Continue on with your false assumption of excellence.

Another ignorant pile of liberal bile. You leftists are quite full of it. How is that theory working in Venezuela snowflake?

One need read no further than this moronic garbage to see why liberals are the dumbest most gullible morons on the planet.

Yes moron; that worked so well in the former Soviet Union, Cuba and now Venezuela. Dunce.

Another asinine meme; the "living wage" theory of leftist dunces. So who will be the "decider" of what is a "living wage" snowflake; YOU?

With the right going after every safety net from SS ,medicare, Medicaid ,food support ,housing support, disability , generally all of this countries safety nets . Should the right get what they want or should we raise taxes on the wealthy. To take care of it. You won't get far here with everyone's a cheat routine, without credible sources supporting that scenario.

Fallacy of bifurcation.

1) The democrats have shown no qualms about wanting to spend significantly more money than we already are on new programs like free college for everybody and universal healthcare. The suggestion by you that they want to raise taxes to reduce debt is not supported by a single thing. They want that money to buy votes and make people more dependent on them. If they were worried about debt, they would support Trump's tariffs as they broaden the tax base.

2) Governments do not operate like household budgets. There is no indication that the US government has any trouble moving treasuries even at lower than current interest rates. There have been multiple articles and studies published should you so desire to explore them that explore multiple variations of this theme. In addition, debt is how the US expands the money supply. Without it, the dollar becomes destabilized which would then tidal wave throughout the global economy. Government debt is a good thing.

country's.

Strange that you think a tax increase only generates revenue if it is on the wealthy. A dollar raised from lottery tickets or cigarettes is no different than a dollar raised from capital gains.

Since the average worker already pays approximately 50% of hs salary in local, county, State, Federal, property, gas, etc. taxes, and your gawds pay 0% to 16%.

So, the question is why do you have such low esteem, and hate the average worker so greatly, that you feel you need to spend your life on your knees before the altar to your gawd?

I am not an average worker.

It's nice to see how our resident JPP liberals are still hoping for a socialist government and country.

What is amazing is your slavish attitude towards the wealthy. As has been shown to you time, and time, again is that a system that favors both is what made this country great. It has only been in the past 40 years, or so, as the greed of your masters greatly increased, and you bent over to take it up the ass thanking your masters with every stroke, that the country has started the downward trend to hell.

Ahhh the “you didn’t build that argument”

Let me ask you Mr Taxalot. What percentage of your money would you consider too much for the gubmint to take? Is there a limit to how much of your money that can have?

I mean anyone can argue for others to pay more. There is no courage in that

I have a little secret no one cares what your opinion is on this , we realize it's just the normal hatred that is found in just about every one of your ilk. Your so proud of the fact that you just spit on the poor, and your hate and disregard of others is again normal from you haters but you don't count because for every one of you people who spit on the poor there's 10 of us that except our responsibility to take care of out fellow Americans in need. . you pukes are what this country has to dump. As a country we support our Christians values that tells us over 300 times in the bible that its our responsibility to take care of the needy . So I do understand then that your not a Christian or your a fake Christian. Your hate may because you believe in nothing but yourself.

Where in the Bible does it say you should use the gubmint to satisfy your conscience?

Lots of evils in the world were done in the name of helping the po

Hello Kacper,

1) The democrats have shown no qualms about wanting to spend significantly more money than we already are on new programs like free college for everybody and universal healthcare. The suggestion by you that they want to raise taxes to reduce debt is not supported by a single thing.

I've made no such suggestion. I simply stated what I feel should be done. But I should add that Republicans have just had their chance to show us how responsible they are with the budget and they blew it.

They want that money to buy votes and make people more dependent on them. If they were worried about debt, they would support Trump's tariffs as they broaden the tax base.

I disagree. I believe the tariffs have had a detrimental effect. And I would trust the Democrats to reduce the deficit as they undertake socially responsible spending.

I agree some government debt is a good thing, but we currently have too much. It is over 100% of the GDP. That's irresponsible and stands to quicker lead to destabilization of the dollar. Ideally, we should reduce the deficit to zero, or even run a surplus for a while. (Like Clinton did.) Just get the deficit very low and it will be better for us. As long as the economy is strong, the debt to GDP ratio can be reduced with a low deficit. That's what we really want. We have to reduce the debt to GDP ratio. That makes us strong. That can only be done when the economy is strong. Now is the time. We cannot wait. This can only be done now. It cannot be done when the economy is weak. You know the strong economy will not last forever. Low taxes did not cause this strong economy. Obama already had the recovery going strong before Trump took office.

Nearly every presidency experiences a recession. If one occurs during Trump's time, will he take as much responsibility for it as he does for the good economy? (Doubtful - he'll blame somebody else if we know him at all.)

How could we possibly reduce the deficit during a Trump recession if we can't do it during boom time?
