Strange that you think a tax increase only generates revenue if it is on the wealthy. A dollar raised from lottery tickets or cigarettes is no different than a dollar raised from capital gains.

Your false dichotomy notwithstanding, higher tax rates do not necessarily result in higher tax revenues. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are an an unsustainable path and need to be reformed or they will become insolvent. Rather than try to work with Republicans to reform them, Democrats prefer to make accusations of throwing granny off a cliff.

You're definitely on the right track as long as you don't expect the Democrats to do it. It's not a Dems vs. Repubs thing, it's an American issue.

Why would anyone who cares about people in need even look at the hate party's plan. They want it in their pockets that's as plain as the nose on your face, With the 1 1/2 trillion dollar tax cut for the wealthy in the same breath they went for more then that in cutting funding for every aspects of the safety net.
