Maybe I have a misunderstanding of the swamp but how is a big donor to the Republican Party the swamp? Should we not want people donating to the party?
It depends on who they are donating for.
Notice the article did not mention who this guy supported for POTUS.
I am sure it was Kasich, Bush, or Rubio.
It's people like this who have destroyed the GOP and paved the way for Donald J. Trump.

The guy has donated tens of thousands to Republican candidates and causes. There is more to the Republican Party than just the President. I have no idea who he supported for President in '16 but you're saying unless someone voted for Trump they've destroyed the party? How so?
I am going to assume with that comment that you don't understand the establishment side of the GOP.
This doesn't have anything to do with Trump specifically.
There are other members of the GOP who are not establishment.
Trump was elected by Republicans because he was not establishment and the Republican voters rejected the establishment types like Kasich, Bush, and Rubio.

You don't win in politics without money so I don't see the benefit of losing a billionaire donor. Governorships and seats in Congress are important as well. People donate to more than just the President. The guy donated huge money to candidates in Ohio. So we just say good riddance and give all your money to Democrats now and it won't have any effect on us?
I think some of the magic may be gone for a lot of Trump worshippers.
Have you noticed how Dump's last remaining and most passionate supporters on this forum are the known and confirmed racists and bigots (plus Annatta)?
Even the semi-normal Trump supporters sense there is something seriously wrong with this guy. No normal person is up at 2 am in the morning rage tweeting, becoming increasingly paranoid and incoherent, and seemingly having zero interest in learning or improving at presidential statecraft and governance.
There is no way the semi-normal Trump supporters have failed to notice this - and it seemingly has the hallmarks of a nervous breakdown.
Future historians will be agog with amazement that 30 million Americans thought it was a good idea to pull the lever in the voting booth for a mentally unstable Reality TV entertainer.
What's the difference in this fat cat donating money to get progressive Republicans elected who will vote in goose step with the Democrats?

If you goal is some kind of ideological purity, of how you pick Trump as your leader I have no clue, then Republicans will be out of power forever like we are in California.
I don't know the candidates this guy supported.
Living in Ohio I would say it's safe to say he was a Kasich supporter, who was only able to carry his own state during the primaries due to his progressive polices.
Again, this has nothing to do with Trump specifically.
If you understand the swamp or the establishment types in Congress then you should understand that is who the American people are voting against.
And, none of that is the reason Republicans have no power in California.

If you believe Kasich only won because of progressive politics then what does that say about Ohio? Would you rather lose the Governorship of Ohio and control of the state legislature in exchange for running what you believe to be ideologically pure candidates?

Rob Portman's (R) reelection campaign in 2016 and nearly $70,000 to GOP committees and candidates in Ohio and other states, the Dispatch noted.
Who are all these anti-swamp candidates that aren't in state houses now around the country because Wexler supposedly donated to establishment Republicans?
My point was, due to Kasich's progressive polices and talk of choosing a Democrat for his VP, he was only able to carry one out of the 50 states in this Country.
This really doesn't say anything about Ohio most candidates ALWAYS carry their home state.
I think the exception was Ol' Slick.
I don't believe we will lose the Governorship, so to say.
The American people are voting against these establishment types as evidenced by Trump's victory.
Keep in mind there is a reason Kasich is not running for re-election in Ohio.

But, this guy is clearly a neverTrumper and I assure you, I am NOT wrong in my assessment.
