Kim Jong-un commits to 'complete de-nuclearization' in historic agreement with Trump

It was a 'start' back in 2005 when similar language was agreed to.
I'm REALLY disappointed. Not even a Peace Treaty.

I have heard rumblings that a Peace Treaty, at this point, would muddy and complicate negotiations ... because it would legally change the rules of diplomatic engagement that the U.S. is legally permitted to use at this time.

Yeah, but you are an idiot, so....

They agreed to have more meetings, nothing substantive. It's "historic" as in, we have seen this before.

There is no reason not to be hopeful but without something much more substantive, optimistic is just another term for easily fooled.

No, ... we have never seen a U.S. president meet with the Leader of North Korea.

:dunno:

  • Kim told the U.S. president, 'It was not easy to get here...old prejudices and practices worked as obstacles on our way forward, but we overcame all of them'

  • Given that NK teaches its people, every day, that the USA is the "great evil" of the world, ... that is a very significant statement. And if photos of "the handshake" are circulated in Noko, ... it will cause a significant paradigm change amongst Kim's subjects.

I think the Peace Treaty would negate the presence of American Troops in SK. But also render meaningless Nukes in NK if there is peace.
(I don't know if you watched the 1 hour News Conference with Trump, but it was Great. The way he tells it, there's lots of verbal agreements that aren't in the signed Document)

What a let down. No substantive progress. Same language as the 2005 agreement to 'de-nuclearzation'.

Maybe because of the personal rapport between the two, something might happen?

They seem to have a good rapport which is a necessity because Kim is going to need to trust Trump’s assurance that Kim won’t be given the Libya treatment if he denukes.

The language may be the same as in the 2005 agreement but this isn’t 2005 and Trump isn’t Bush II.

Thingy asked me for evidence of churlish Dems, here is Mr. Churlish!

I am not a Dem and my comment was not churlish. Churlish is your substanceless "nasty c" response, you pathetic twit.

I just added some reality to your fantasy thread. This meeting produced nothing more than photo ops. You and Bigdog seem to think that pictures lead to significant changes, but excuse me if I remain doubtful.
