Is that why Democrats killed so many Americans in the Civil War?

Those were Confederates, not Americans. Most likely a bullshit story anyway. It never fits the exaggerated perceptions in the stories the Trumpkins pass out here.

Right, the Democrats were Confederates, and the Americans were Americans.

No, the former confederates are today's conservatives. The Dixiecrats split to the right, after civil rights, and racial integration. Dixiecrats were all for states rights. Now where have we heard that? The Dixiecrats were just a small group of Democrats that formed in opposition to civil rights. The were the States Rights Party. It was more with them being Southerners that carried that confederate mentality, than being Democrats. The moment the stuff went Down, most left to the Republicans, and others formed an independent party.

How so? The former Confederates were members of a political party that was classically liberal (Jefferson/Madison), then populist (Jackson/Bryan), and then leftist (Wilson). At what point were they conservative?

Cali. democrats are screaming for states rights and secession. :palm:

3 times as many, or 200% more, Demmycrat Senators and congressmen voted against the Civil rights Act ... than repubs.

Don't doubt me.

Your Leftist ... the partys traded names meme ... is a silly propaganda myth.

Perhaps you've heard of the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. It's often referred to as the States' Rights Amendment rightfully so. Why do you hate the Constitution so much by ignoring the concept it created?
