Customers and employees slam Starbuck's "open bathroom" policy.

The larger size, and typically larger crowds, of burger joints, such as McDonalds, has certainly made it convenient for that purpose throughout my life. I do feel that my presence would be much more easily noticed at a Starbucks, so, I have largely avoided utilizing one except when at least purchasing a token beverage.

I've also witnessed what happens when it's used as a "hang out", by those who are just there.

It seems like most of the time that the employees don't want to confront someone and I've seen people get up and leave; because of the delusional rantings or the begging for money.
When someone does call the Police (usually a patron) and the Police show up, there usually already familiar with the person; because of similar issues at the same place.

dozens of chains let the public use their bathrooms freely you stupid moron.

Hey einstein. We're not talking about huge stores like walmart. They let anyone use their BR since the BRs there are so big and one homeless person in there doesn't really matter. Libraries are like that too. Small stores are different. THINK, hater.

That was what started this whole nonsense in the first place.

I have noticed that when faced with such hard questions, like the one I asked, that this new batch of JPP liberals tend to run and hide.

I can only guess that it's embarrassment over me revealing that they have failed to think out their comments to a logical conclusion and they're just trying to hide from being embarrassed even more.

Of course I can always be in error and the long awaited reply might actually contain an honest reply; but then, once again that would require a commitment on someone else's part.

Who the FUCK goes to Starbucks to use the Bathroom ...

Personally, the less people in line for coffee, the better for me to get in and out.

Next Crises Please ... more White Fragility examples

Evidently two guys who said they were there for a meeting!!

Starbucks was crucified because starbucks went cray cray responding to an isolated incident when they could have just said "We fired them" wrote a hush check, and been done with it.

Or they could have stood behind their employee and explained that she was following their policy and they were just going to change it.

Changing their policy is what created the pickle they are in now.

TRUE and UNTRUE; because there was no need for them to go all PC over a policy that was in affect and if they decided to change their policy, then an announcement was all that was needed.

I posted earlier that I didn't know of anyone who did this locally. I have since recalled one local burger king with an odd layout does lock their bathrooms at night to cut down on people coming in a side door that cannot be seen from the counter and using their bathroom after some incidents involving that bathroom being used for things other than using the toilet.

I think the right policy for any chain is to leave it up to the individual locations personally. Here in the south where people drive everywhere and water is cheap, it is no big deal because it is neither expensive nor persistently problematic. In some place like NYC where there is far more pedestrian traffic and insufficient public bathrooms, this could become a major problem. Plus a lot of needle users apparently use bathroom stalls to shoot up on the go.

And the problems you've mentioned are one of the reasons that some businesses keep their bathrooms locked.

I know a small fish and shrimp place, not that far from me, who keep theirs locked and all a paying customer has to do, is ask for the key.

I've been in there and several times seen someone just walk in from the parking lot, ask to use the RR and they've been told it's for paying customers only.

They're a small business and their location seems to attract the "street people".

I've already told myself that if I'm ever in there and some idiot decides to make this an issue, that I'm going to support the owners policy and stand up for them.
If it means that I have to call 911, I'll do so and stay just so I can be a good witness.

By the way, their fried catfish and shrimp combo, is the best.

I loathe shrimp. I came down with the flu which led to double pneumonia just after eating shrimp and everything I ate or drank for the next three months tasted like shrimp to me. It was awful. Shrimp tasting water, ugh. I gag at them now. On the plus side, haven't gotten the flu since ;)
