‘Pimping for terrorists’? Sarah Silverman attacked for saying Jews must denounce Israeli wrongdoing

Jewish-American actress and comedian Sarah Silverman is facing an avalanche of criticism and praise online after saying that Jews should denounce the Israeli government for its wrongdoing.
Silverman took to Twitter to show her support for detained Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi, who is facing up to 10 years in prison after slapping an Israeli soldier.

“Jews have to stand up EVEN when — ESPECIALLY when — the wrongdoing is BY Jews/the Israeli government,” Silverman said, adding a link to an Amnesty International campaign calling for Tamimi’s release.

No government should be beyond criticism - particularly when its actions are brutal.
If governments cannot set examples for just and humanitarian practices then they are not fit for purpose.

ANY government would be lambasted for threatening a teenager with ten years in prison for slapping a soldier- a representative of a regime which had murdered her relative in an illegal occupation. Israel has descended into fascist activities because it has put its vision of an exclusively ' Jewish ' society above human rights. This is criminal by all interpretations of international and humanitarian law. Jews everywhere should be speaking out against the neoZionist regime in Israel- and Sarah Silverman is correct in urging them to do so.

Not only is this the right thing to do- it also prevents America's Jews from being tarnished by the brutal and illegal actions of Israelis.
