The Electoral College is a disaster for Democracy!

what is sad is

even with that unfair advantage to the small red states

the right has to cheat Americans out of their rights to vote to win elections

gerrymandering

Id laws

russian KGB tactics

you know, if this idiot ^^^^
was on my side of any argument, ANY argument I would seriously consider changing sides on that basis alone

So you probably think they shouldn't get ANY Senators?

Maybe we should just let Commiefornistan run the country? Would that make you happy? Free crack for all?

why do you have to make up flase statements by me?

because your real argument fails horribly

we are talking about electing representatives.

that is the part of our system that should be a direct reflection of the peoples desires

But it doesn't now, that's why he wants to keep it, Wymong, which isn't as big as metropolitan Buffalo gets three electoral votes on it's own, the Wymong voter has more say.

well good......people in Wyoming are a lot smarter than people in Buffalo.......some of them can even spell Wyoming.......by the way, the voters in Buffalo get 29 electoral votes......

Ah, illegal immigrants don't vote, and there is no reason for compulsory ID, voter ID fraud is as common as getting hit by lightning, twice, and the current system isn't fair, a State as Wyoming, which isn't as big as most second level metropolitan areas in the US, gets three electoral votes on its own
Yes that may well be true; but justice not only needs to done, it also has be shown to be done as well.

In what states aren't members of the house of representatives selected by popular vote?

The fact he's missing is that the guy in California is just as much an American as the guy in Wyoming

Uhh no. Californians are NOT Americans. They are the enemy.

Democracy is not an inherently good system. It's basically only the best we have.

Slavery was enabled by democracy. So have countless wars.

Democracy is 2 wolves and 1 sheep deciding on what to eat for dinner. In no universe is that a "fair" system.

The only benefit to democracy is the decentralization of decision making and the dilution of power.

One could easily argue a benevolent enlightened dictatorship is superior to plenty of democracies where 51% rule the other 49%.

That is why a tough to amend constitution and an agreement on fundamental rights is so important.

Trump has motivated reasoning. If he had won the election but lost the electoral college, there would've been a civil war. The Democrats just take it in the butt though.

Yes, we don't need a democracy. We need even greater protections for minorities than that. I propose that the senate be distributed among ethnic minorities, and that rather the rewarding extra votes to the states, we award extra votes to ethnicities. That way one ethnicity won't try to dominate everything. The current system, which exaggerates the voice of the majority ethnicity, is obviously horribly flawed, the opposite of how things should be. Rural whites are the last people who need greater protections, minorities do.

This person understands it.

I will agree that the electoral college is a disaster for a direct democracy. That is a good thing. Direct democracies should be opposed
