I thought about the recoil too. A tripod would be useless because the recoil from the auto fire would force the gun upward.

A perfectly legal semi automatic 30-6 would have been just as effective on a crowd of people *who couldn't egress fast enough* to save themselves from a stream of bullets from a high powered rifle. The inability to egress was a much bigger factor than the bump stock.

It would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

It's a depressing subject for sure.

But the political point is that making bump stocks illegal is a feel good measure that will matter little or not at all. The problem is the crazies and/or terrorists.

And I'm still not convinced Paddock didn't fall into the latter category.

The only surprise was that the numbers were as low as they were, given his rounds per minute, his angle of advantage and the lack of cover for the "fish".
He must have been nervous.
USFREEDUMB would have done much better, I'm sure.

Not sure how you would effectively use a bump stock with a tripod.

Like I had said; I would like to see how many were directly shot, compared to the number of rounds fired.
I'd bet that most were hit by ricochets; which of course doesn't minimize the "essential" threat.

Personally, if I had the choice; I would rather be hit directly, instead of a ricochet.
A ricochet has the ugly factor of the round becoming less cylindrical and thereby causing a bigger wound at impact; even though it has lost speed, now it also probably has sharp edges.

Particularly funny in this case since .223 bullets invariably fracture rather than ricochet, even when striking water.

Clueless retard is clueless nevermind that the angle of incidence is far too steep to produce a ricochet when fired from 32 stories.

If the tripod has the ability to lock on to something, I think it would work; as trying to use one that is free standing.

Watch this video; because the shooters front hand is "essentially" steady.
