No - Trump hasn't done a good job on Puerto Rico

And you're doubling down on your stupidity. That's not what I'm talking about.

Again - if you do not understand how a President's vocal support and prioritizing of the crisis can affect donations, volunteer efforts, fundraising and the rest, then you are detached from reality. It is not "feels," it is fact. I understand your strong need to defend every single one of Trump's failings, but it doesn't change they fact that they are failings.

What you don't understand is that Trump making a speech to mobilize volunteers won't help matters because they can't drive to PR like they typically do to a mainland crisis.

Hilarious. Now Puerto Rico is "wiped out". :rofl2:

It wasn't?

Another poster seems to agree with me.

An entire island state is flooded, flattened and destroyed...The Puerto Ricans have all but been annihilated over there.

Amazing how you're willing to quibble over my choice of words when an entire island is suffering from total devastation.

No power, no food or water. Entire TOWNS flattened...but GB would rather whine about my choice of words.

Precisely the sort of empathy one can expect from your run of the mill Trumpkin.

Those are the only kind of volunteers needed? Drivers? They don't need people to donate clothes, food, water and other goods, and other people to organize those efforts? They don't need people working the phone lines and internet for fundraising?

What you're arguing is basically that the President should keep quiet about it - that his raising awareness of the crisis and making it a national priority is completely inconsequential. You're arguing that no volunteers are really needed for this effort, and that they don't really need an increase in donations.

That's what Trump has reduced you to. Making those kinds of arguments.

We need to set the blame for Puerto Rico firmly where it belongs......election day and the voters of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin........

It wasn't?

Not in my opinion. Is it still above the water? Are any of the inhabitants still alive? Are any structures still standing?

If the answer is "yes", then I think "wiped out" is partisan hyperbole.

An appeal to authority? How quaint.

Get back to me when the facts agree with you.

I have nothing better to do. Apparently, neither do you, unless you want to prove that you're posting from Puerto Rico while you rescue the victims of Maria.

Is that what you're suggesting?

Three other things here that liberals don't understand.

1. In a mainland crisis, most first responders are private citizens, churches, corporations and private utilities that can quickly mobilize and drive to the area.
2. PR is an island.
3. Cars and trucks can't drive to the island.

That hasn't occurred to them, I guess.

Covfefe thinks Trump should have ordered an airdrop.

The South had response within hours, didn't they? Where's the military on this one? The CIC has authority to mobilize them at once. Did he lose another fucking aircraft carrier?

Read a map.
See the distance from the U.S. to Puerto Rico? Plus, crippled seaport and airport access.

NOBODY gets relief effort in a few hours stateside. Usually a full day transpires AFTER a storm passes to assess the immediate damage and situation, note the logistics and reports and pictures of the area to locate best routes in, THEN take initial baby steps to BEGIN aid to the area. This is why people need to always have at LEAST 1 week (preferably 2 weeks) of cheap BASIC supplies for survival on hand for the aftermath.

Unless you can show credible evidence that donations have been negatively impacted by what you imagine to be Trump's refusal to use the "bully pulpit" in accordance with your expectations, you're bloviating.

DEMOCRATS must think that aircraft carriers should have been routed to Puerto Rico immediately and provided everyone unicorns to fly away on and free rides to the Big Rock Candy Mountain, I suppose. :dunno:

my company has done a lot of the phone donation.Red Cross has their own,and there is also web and text donations. that is covered.

That's great, and good on them.

You're not suggesting that increased awareness and Presidential leadership wouldn't drive more donations and help, are you?

Hey, Tom - why don't you at least try to refute the OP if you have a problem w/ it?

I actually thought this would be a pretty non-controversial thread. It's indisputable that Trump has spent more time on the NFL on than on PR. Absolutely indisputable.

But I forgot how hardcore & stubborn the apologism is on this board. Trump has some hypnotized.

Good lord, what a lying hack you are. You're insane, literally insane and a habitually liar.

It's been nine days! There is no excuse, even HLS isn't saying they are doing a good job, anymore, Duke toured the island and saw first hand just how far behind relief effort is.

If only Trump had given equal tweet time to Maria. Oh, the humanity!
