the President knows he has to do something to reconnect with his base after he reversed his Dreamers stance and cut deals with the Democrats on the debt ceiling and government funding, what better way than to mix race and patriotism, personally he probably could care less what NFL players do, but he knows full well the base will buy it, there is a reason he waited till he spoke in Alabama to sell it


They get played all the time and they don't even know it

Wrong again there "donny," two weeks ago the controversy was a dead deal, even some of the players were saying it had passed, but your President resurrected it all, purposely, to get individuals as yourself all worked up so that his selling out to the Democrats and his Administration's failures would be forgotten, and you bought it, hook, line, and sinker

On the contrary, we love our Prez, base approval is 82%, we're happy with our patriotism, we like believing that employees should leave their personal gripes, grievances and baggage at home when they go to work, we enjoy pure sports for sport's sake and we revel in watching the left clutching their pearls when faced with opposition. :)

Of course you "love him," you are not issues oriented, your "in love" with the personality, but when you got radio demagogues and right wing advocates questioning his partnership with Nancy and Chuck, failure at health care, and abandoning his Dreamer stance, you got to provide red meat to keep them at "82%"

We live the struggle everyday, even when no one is looking

The NFL may want it to pass so it's racist owners don't have to address it, but we will never forget.
