OPINION: We can’t keep rebuilding flood-ravaged homes

It is only a temporary increase and fine by me, there is a lot of damage to this city that needs to be repaired.

instead of making things even that much harder on a population that has been hit, why don't you tell your representative to break out that rainy day fun, for which it's intended use fits perfectly for this?

I have already done that.

so not only do you want to drain the rainy day fund, you want to steal more money from already financially strapped homeowners..........good on ya.

while you're at it, maybe you should push for a state constitutional amendment to implement an exorbitant income tax.

Lol, how else do you propose we rebuild the town? What exactly is the "rainy day fund" for if not for natural disasters. If we have the funds why take it from other sources? The increase works out to about $84 for the year for a $200K home from my reading. I am sure if you are hard case you can appeal the increase, for us it is nothing to help the city recover

sure, nothing like adding a 9% fee on folks who just lost everything.......its good lib'rul economics.......
Again, for the hopelessly stupid, like PMP, there would be exceptions, but for people like myself who were not impacted, the tax is nothing when I consider the benefits.

If more people had this kind of civic responsibility, compassion and common sense, this world would be great place.

I must say I'm shocked, a government program Ken doesn't like. The article is correct; the gov't is enabling the behavior with this program.

yep... and what is truly funny is Ken doesn't understand the demographics of Houston. Clinton won Harris county with 57% of the vote.

[h=1]Trump reversed regulations to protect infrastructure against flooding just days before Hurricane Harvey[/h]

Which has nothing to do with what happened.

Once again Desh links to an article she doesn't understand.

lol, she doesn't read the articles, she just reads the headlines. The best was when she posted a Financial Times columns after reading the headline without actually looking to see the article was behind a fire wall.

hey idiot

how prepaired was Houston?

not very huh

building smart so it doesnt wash away every other year is GOOD

building stupid because your party needs to lie about Global warming is DUMB

How often do you think this has occurred in Houston?

you cant be THAT stupid

Y yes, yes he can......and he is. This is the very thing he complains about in CA.

He thinks you should be able to build anywhere you want. Otherwise, your a white racist liberal keeping Blacks out of your neighborhood just like the racist right does..

CA is the 6th largest economy in the WORLD!

All loser stay out. We are doing perfectly fine without you.

You should be kissing our asses for funding your fuck up states.

All over CA I see big signs saying "Your tax dollars at work"

Fixing our infrastructure, highways and by ways.

Other states should do the same instead of depending on CA to subsidize their taxes.
