Angry conservative admits pointing gun at woman because her bumper stickers were ‘stupid’

A Missouri conservative admits he pointed a gun at another driver during a road rage incident over her political bumper stickers.

Edward Burns, of Ozark, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a class E felony, in connection with the Aug. 24 encounter, reported the Christian County Headliner.

The 48-year-old Burns passed Democratic activist Laura Umphenour — who has many political bumper stickers on her minivan — as they entered U.S 65, and both drivers admit to exchanging obscene gestures.

Umphenour told police she pulled alongside the other driver and flipped him off, and she said Burns then pointed a handgun at her and told the woman to back off.

She then jerked the steering wheel in fear, lost control, crashed into Burns’ SUV and then slid across the road into a guardrail, according to police.

Burns waived his Miranda rights and admitted to pointing a Smith & Wesson .380 handgun at the woman because he thought her political views were “stupid,” and he became angry when she extended her middle finger at him.

“During his confession he noted several political decals, which expressed a different political view than his own, on the rear of (the) van, which he thought were stupid,” police said in their report. “Edward indicated at no time was he ‘scared’ of (the victim) and indicated he only displayed the gun in an attempt to stop the road rage incident. Edward said he wanted (the victim) to know not to mess with him.”

Umphenour plans to file a civil suit against Burns, who was released from jail on $5,000 bond.

“Our differences should bind us, not divide us,” said her attorney, David Ransin. “And you shouldn’t go ballistic over bumper stickers.”

Where is your proof that this idiot is a "conservative", Zappacrite?

sounds like two people who shouldn't be allowed out of the house, let alone behind the wheel of a vehicle. but by all means, zappa, lets blame the whole issue on some 'angry conservative'..........

They claimed the idiot is a conservative.

Please point out their proof that he's a conservative to me, Zappacrite.

You might try reading the article like I did, Zappacrite.

Edward indicated at no time was he ‘scared’

ROFL!!

A driver points a gun at a FEMALE driver to warn her off...but NOT because he was scared.

It must be hell making excuses for "tough guys" like Mr Burns who need to threaten others by waving their phony phallic "manhood" at those who frighten them.

Oh, and if the author of the article's description of the gun nut bothers you, take it up with him/her.

Zippy has a reading comprehension problem. Apparently the guy with the gun was a conservative, but at no time was he "scared", nor did he start this confrontation. In fact, the liberal here was the one who was afraid, the proof being that she panicked and lost control of her vehicle.

Zappacrite (& his beloved Raw Story) have presented ZERO evidence that the man was "conservative", or "scared".

Even Zappacrite's beloved Raw Story reports that "Edward indicated at no time was he ‘scared’ ", but that didn't stop Zappacrite from claiming the man was "scared".

Either Zappacrite didn't read the story as reported by his beloved Raw Story or he intentionally misrepresented its contents in his thread title.

Now look at Zappacrite's thread title again.

What say you, Zappacrite?

She panicked AFTER he pointed a gun at her.

Apparently he was so frightened by her Liberal bumper stickers and her middle finger, he felt the need to escalate the situation.

I'm taking it up with Y O U Zappacrite.

Because Y O U claimed he was "scared" in Y O U R thread title, despite the content of the story Y O U cited.

Where is your evidence that the man in question is a conservative, Zappacrite?

You think he is because Y O U and your beloved Raw Story said so?

I want proof, Zappacrite.

Get proof or be exposed AGAIN as a serial liar.

She panicked AFTER he pointed a gun at her.

She panicked because she was afraid. No-where in the article does it suggest that the man was afraid.

I don't think you realize how offensive the middle finger is to some folks, especially the older generation. Some guy pulled one on my father years ago and my dad instinctively grabbed it and broke it. I assure you that my dad wasn't afraid.

"Apparently", Zappacrite?

Apparently Y O U lied in Y O U R thread title, and there's no evidence that the man is a conservative - except your opinion and Raw Story's claim - unsupported by any evidence.

Admit Y O U lied, Zappacrite.

The article reports the opposite.

Edward indicated at no time was he ‘scared’

I wonder if Zappacrite even read the report before he posted it.

Your father also didn't pull a gun and stick it in the face of the guy who flipped him the bird.

Your dad wasn't afraid...

The clown on the freeway clearly was.

Admit Y O U lied, Zappacrite.

"Conservative" was one of the first three words of the article.

And the evidence is his reaction to the woman's bumper stickers.

By the way I am feeling pretty proud of myself regarding my prediction that you'd say just about anything to defend the coward who brandished the gun.

You never fail to disappoint!
