Currently there are racists at this site

Which, by default, is due to AA.

There is no way to spin AA as anything other than one race getting jobs/admissions whatever that they were less qualified for by virtue of race.
Racism does not have to include hate as a component, just ingrained inferiority.
Hate is just bigotry.
Loads of bigots across the political spectrum. Quite a loot of racism on the left.

It has. Women now make up the majority of college enrollment. That's a big change from 50 years ago. Minority enrollment has also increased dramatically as well as women and minority's representation in the professions have grown dramatically too. Yet in that time the percentage of white men obtaining college educations has also grown.

Like it or not Affirmative Action has worked and those who bitch about it are largely people who lack either the talent, skill or work ethic needed to compete or people who were born on third base who think they hit a home run.

Are woman today capable of competing on equal footing for college admissions or do they still need AA?

That's circular reasoning Wacko. It's the same as saying you can't be racist if someone disagrees with you cause they're only calling you a racist cause they disagree with you.

Right or wrong if someone thinks you're belief is racist they probably have a reason for believing that.
Desh and Nostradumbarse have called virtually everybody on here racist, should we institute a modern version of trial by ordeal?

Affirmative action or positive discrimination was never enacted in the UK. Yet women are a majority on uni courses. However if you look at sciences and technology, what you refer to as STEMS, they are vastly under represented. I have to ask, does we really need even more lawyers, bureaucrats and media bimbos? Especially considering that AI will do away with many legal and admin jobs.

False premise Wacko. Women were capable of competing with men prior to affirmative action but were denied both opportunities and access. Level those playing fields and and AA isn't needed.

But let's go beyond why should should those whose parents are legacies or whose parents can afford exorbitant tuition fees have access to those with demonstrated superior ability? How about we level those playing fields too? Do you think AA is needed if we eliminate those unearned privileges?

About 20 years in there was a study on AA done on the admissions side of things. Turns out it was a negative overall for the kids. They got admitted to schools they did not qualify for and struggled badly in many cases dropping out. In many of those cases they didnt even transfer to a school more in keeping with their abilities as they came to doubt themselves.
Equal opportunity was the dream Dr King had. And a good one. AA is the mistake he never intended

How is that a false premise? Because certain legislation was needed 40 to 50 years ago does that mean it's automatically still needed today? Women outnumber men by millions on college campuses. Do they still need AA today?

Prop 209 eliminated racial and gender biases in school admission in California and woman still outnumber men at Cal and UCLA.

So what is your argument today that women need special treatment in college admissions?

We don't have it in the UK, yet it doesn't seem to have held women back. What the betting that you'll ignore this post?

im not. Are they still receiving preferences or quotas in admissions?

You also avoided my question about preferential admissions based on socioeconomic status. Are you willing to level that playing field?

My whole belief is economic status should trump all other preferences.
