THAT ^^^ could be the single most stupid thing anyone has ever typed

bravo to you, you have topped, well, you

YOU ^^^ could be the single most stupid retard anyone has ever been.

Many religious people, many Christian believers.... experience a sense of disappointment, because they may have read in a number of other places or heard from a number of other quarters that Abraham Lincoln was a Christian.

Well, the truth of the matter is that, no, he was not. He was exposed to Christian influences all through his life. He knew Christian people. He worked with Christian people, worked with Christian ideas. But Lincoln never joined a church, never was actively involved in any kind of Christian organization; in fact, really had only the most minimal religious profile in his own day.

The Gospel Coalition: Was Abraham Lincoln A Christian?

You really should take the time to read and learn about things before you open your idiotic yap about them.

Maybe you'd make less of an ass out of yourself.

From your own link:
[Lincoln] was exposed to Christian influences all through his life. He knew Christian people. He worked with Christian people, worked with Christian ideas...
His law partner, Herndon, who knew him probably as well as anybody could know someone not being part of the immediate family—Herndon said of Lincoln that Lincoln kept half of himself secret, away from the general public, and then he kept half of what was left even from his closest friends.

Not everyone who believes in Christ as the Son of God joins a church, and not everyone who believes in Jesus as The Teacher believes Him to be the Son of God. It is enough that Lincoln believed in His teachings to make the claim that Lincoln believed in Christian values.

Spin idiot, spin.

The gist of the text is that Lincoln did not identify himself as a Christian.

Historians all know that.

Your obfuscating bullshit notwithstanding.

I'm not arguing that Lincoln was a Christian. Again, it is enough that Lincoln believed in Christian values and acted accordingly.

Your argument that he was not a Christian is what we're all laughing at.

....what a pair.

Pair of what is anyone's guess.

This is a clear admission that your argument has been destroyed. Thanks! :D

:okjen:

Look it up for yourself. :Googler:

It's well known that Lincoln was not a practicing Christian in the way you dolts are implying he was.

Using the Bible as a source of inspiration or wise teachings is a far cry from being a Christian per se.

Did Abraham Lincoln believe in God? Was he a Christian?

In his New Salem days, Lincoln didn’t leave many clues about his views on Sabbatarianism, or on religion in general. His father had been a member of the Little Pigeon Creek Baptist church, and Lincoln must have been exposed to doctrines like predestination at an early age, but he never joined the Baptist church. New Salem had many believers, but no churches, so Lincoln’s failure to belong was not obvious. We know that it was at this time in his life that Lincoln read Thomas Paine’s Age of Reason, and probably the works of Voltaire and other Enlightenment skeptics. By the time he moved to Springfield in 1837, he had begun to develop his unique world view, a mixture of skepticism and providential fatalism that would continue to mature and evolve throughout his life.

Wasn’t he secretly baptized when he was older?

No, nor was he planning to
convert to (fill in the church of your choice) on Easter Sunday, 1865, only to be tragically murdered on the preceding Good Friday.

The answers to questions about Lincoln’s church membership are not the ones that most people are hoping to hear. He was never a member of the church you attend, or any church. His religious beliefs were dynamic, complex, and powerful, but not conventional. He wasn’t a Baptist, despite being raised in a Baptist tradition. He wasn’t a Presbyterian, although he attended Presbyterian services much of his adult life. He was not a Catholic, contrary to rumors started by the ravings of Reverend Charles Chiniquy, who published a bizarre diatribe called Fifty Years in the Church of Rome (1886), which accused Catholics of claiming that Lincoln had been born into their Church. According to Mrs. Lincoln, who ought to have known, he was not even a Christian. Many stories have circulated about Lincoln being secretly baptized, or planning to be, but they are all unsubstantiated.

Argue the point all you want, make fake bullshit claims about destroying my argument or whatever.

The fact remains that Lincoln was not what any reasonable person would describe as a "Christian".

Probably more of an agnostic.

That's not my position either. He was influenced by Christian society. So once again, Jesus was victorious.

The KKK were/are Christians.

The KKK persecuted White Catholics, and acted in many non-Christian ways. :palm:

Thank God, that military arm of the Socialist Democrat party is nearly defunct because of Christians.

Now, do you want address what I said about the abolitionist movement or continue with your bigoted deflections regarding the socialist democrat party's KKK.

when you lay there about to take your final breath, I hope you don't have one thought that we are right.
The terror and shear horror of hell as your destination will come over you in the heat that awaits you.

That is the kind of fear I was talking about... That fear is what makes you people believe in stupid magical supernatural shit.
I fear nothing in death.
It is an end.
That is the part you are incapable of grasping...
You are childish.

I feel no need to educate you about religion.

All I need to know about religion is that it is born out a childish inability to accept your own mortality.
If you could accept that death is the end of you, there would be no need to make up stupid magical expectations about living forever.
You fear of mortality drives you to church...
You are retarded.
