NYT releases new evidence of Trump-Russia

Ah, you mean a SITTING PRESIDENT, rather than a non-President.

No difference, huh?

Yep, a sitting President talking about good policy - to be openly enacted later, at a politically more opportune time.

As opposed to bad policy, which they tried to coordinate through secret channels behind the backs of a sitting President and the nation's intelligence community, quite plausibly with the sole aim of enriching a then-incoming President.

To steal a word: No difference, huh?

Funny how the times are changing, though: Back then when the open mike incident happened, the marching orders were for all to hyperventilate about President Obama selling out the nation to the evil Russians. They also completely forgot that those missile defenses were supposedly meant to protect Europe against Iran's non-existent ICBMs. The fine rightards eagerly complied. Now that the Trumpy has found that Russia is just America's grossly misunderstood buddy in the fight against evil in this world, sanctions should be dropped and spying compounds be given back, Rightardia is all aflutter.

The difference is that was an actual video of a sitting president telling the Russians i will give you what you want at a time when the voters can no longer punish me for it as opposed to random unnamed sources.

Yeah, there is politics going on, even give-and-take, on the international stage, and even well-timed so as to give a malignant, obstructionist domestic opponent less fodder. That is entirely, completely, utterly unprecedented.

For pity's sake!

So, next week when Trump tells Putin he'll be more flexible in the future you guys and Joe and Mika will be ok with it?

And you expect us to believe that? Do we have the word 'stupid' tattooed on our foreheads?

there really is no problem with a transition team making contact and even discussing things like sanctions with
' da Russians'.

The funny thing about Obama?
he completely missed Russia as a geopolitical foe when Romney pointed that out during his debate w/Obama.

Even myself -who thinks Russia needs to be managed-not demonized-realize Russia is a foe,
but one that should be taken seriously
and not just shoved around w/NATO expansion, and a monopolarism view that only the west's needs should be recognized.

The really, really funny thing?
Obama went on to prove Romney was correct, and he wound up demonizing Putin instead of engaging him

Putin just blew past the sidelined Obama, and filled all the security vacuums (Syria/Egypt/Iran) with his own interests!

Heavens, Omar, you are one to think, not just one blindly to bloviate, as far as I have seen.

President Obama reversed a misguided policy of his predecessor, that he deemed not in the best interest of the US.

The Trumpy tried to drop sanctions imposed on Russia due to international criminality at a time when this criminality was and is still ongoing, for no publicly communicable policy aim.

It would be extremely disappointing if you actually thought these two instances were anywhere near equal.

lol..bait thread. He's referring to the off mic conversation between Obama and Medvedev

Seriously,

Are you people complete morons?

The Fuliginite in that video is THE DULY ELECTED PRESIDENT........he is actually fully authorized to speak that way.....

Would you list your primary sources of information in order of time spent with each?

Darth,

Did you cast one or more votes for Scrub?

Then "Stupid" would be a euphemism.

Doesn't this lazy, sleazy misrepresentation ...

The funny thing about Obama?
he completely missed Russia as a geopolitical foe when Romney pointed that out during his debate w/Obama.

... tell you all you need to know?

Pretty much......but I still enjoy the reactions I get to that question.

No. WTF are you talking about?
one has to assume you understand NATO expansion
monopolariam blindness of the west to Russia's security needs

Obama's sanctions on Egypt, Syria as a Russian client state

You are literally the first person in all my years of adventures on the interwebs to suggest we need to talk about Russia's security needs.

I think I can guarantee you that Russians are not sitting around discussing how they can better promote America's security needs.

While we are at it, perhaps we can also talk about how we can help pay for Russia's infrastructure expansions in occupied Crimea?

not "talking about". recognizing them as valid. It's a superpower surrounded by a hostile military alliance.

NATO expansion brought forth meddling in the Uk's Euromaiden by the US, which forced Putin to annex Crimea for access to Sevastopol - having just negotiated a long term lease for it's Black Sea Fleet home.

Failure to recognize this leads to MINDLESS COLD WAR 2.0 expansion which is destructive to both sides and
the planet at large.

It's why the Russian Reset was a failure.
You can't reset if you look at Russia as something to be marginalized with no legit needs of its own
