U.S. Kansas Tax Cut Experiment Comes To An End As Lawmakers Vote To Raise Taxes

I'm speaking to Desh. Screaming generalizations is all she knows.

Look at the GDP growth we had in the '80's under Reagan. Look at the growth after Clinton's capital gains tax cut. Look at the growth after JFK's tax cut. All quite nice
Wrong on all counts. Look at the aftermath of Reaganomics. Clinton's economy was a boom due solely to the invention of the internet. Citing growth in the 60's does absolutely nothing of relevance to a discussion of today's economy.

We still manufactured here in the 60's.

The aftermath of reaganonics was what?

we've never actually had Reaganomics, since it had two parts - cutting taxes and cutting spending - and thanks to Tip O'Neil we only had the cutting taxes.......that's why its amusing to hear demmycrats brag that it didn't work.......

Has high taxes in other states been better? California has sanctuary city policy, and high taxes. They are 89B in debt, and businesses are leaving daily.

I guess he should have worked that part out before cutting taxes=INCREASING DEBT???

And on a sidenote, I heard many California Republicans wail that if Jerry Brown raised taxes it would crash the economy.

Undoubtedly wingnuts did not expect California's budget to balance and economy to take off in the face of a tax hike, while in contrast Kansas budget blew up and their economy was anemic in the face of tax cuts.

Come to think of it, I am pretty sure there were dire economic predictions from wingnuts when Obama raised taxes on the well off.

It really doesn't seem like wingnuts are often right, does it?

California's budget is far from anything remotely connected to "balanced" and the massive tax increases they continue passing will end up costing Democrats politically, as it has in all but FIVE states within the Republic.

I find it amusing that liberals continue to stupidly believe that taxing and spending are economic panacea.

Do you think Kansas is a Democratic state TD?

It seems to be an article of religious faith for rightwing extremists that these so called "supply side" tax cuts for the rich schemes somehow all work, and facts be damned.

It seems to be an article of ignorance for leftwing morons that we have a revenue problem or that confiscatory taxation creates jobs and economic growth. It is stunning in its stupidity and ignorance.

It is worth remembering that Saint Ronnie Raygun's massived tax cuts for the rich in 1981 were followed in 1982 to 83 by the worst Post WW2 recession in history (until Dumbya's 2008 Great Recession), and resulted in massive budget deficits. And that accordingly, Reagan later became one of the greatest tax and revenue raisers in history to plug the gaps he created.

Where do you come with such historic fantasy and outright lies?

It doesn't occur to you that Reagan's polices dragged us out of the Jimmy Carter malaise and resulted in economic recovery and job growth we all wish we could have today.

Lets also remember that Reagans Presidency was complicated by a Democratic controlled Congress and a House Speaker who glibly declare ALL of his budget proposals DOA.

These were the same liars who promised Reagan spending and immigration reform for his compromises that never materialized.

But I get it why you have to lie; your ideology is built on lies.

Tax cuts NEVER result in government revenue declines long term. Government does not have a REVENUE problem, but rather, a SPENDING problem.

I forgot...you're a kid. Google 'Savings and Loan crisis'. Raygun took Carter's deregulation of the S&Ls, and pumped it full of steroids. The aftermath of Reagan's real estate boom cycle was a disaster.

Im 44, hardly a kid. I'm aware of the S&L crisis. That doesn't make reaganonics a failure. Not like it's the first time our economy has had bubbles
