Rump, now that the election is over, "I no longer think NATO is obsolete."

Obama's hands, much like Trump were tied, Congress doesn't want war, because Americans don't want war.

Yeah, don't tread on Trump he'll notify you before bombing an irrelevant base, for some reason I don't feel Assad or Putin feel threatened.
That didn't stop him pulling the military out of Iraq and create a vacuum that was quickly filled by ISIS.

NATO is no longer Obsolete.
Janet Yellen is good at her job.
China is no longer a currency manipulator.
He now cares about Assad, he has to go.
No angry rants on Twitter for almost 2 weeks.

Things are improving at 1600 Pennsylvania.

Rump gave a press conference yesterday where he did not even once yell at a reporter.

Rump just gave a press conference, he did not yell at a single reporter.

He did not rant on any arrogant tangents, and he said that he no longer thinks NATO is obsolete.

8 years and it still didn't happen.

What EXCUSE do you have to pucker up to his black ass this time?

i'm not happy there can't be a Russian reset- but given the "Russian collusion" investigations
and the Russiaphobes-is it even politically possible?

Both Putin and Trump say US/Russian relations are at an "all time low" -
and that inexorably leads to mindless escalation of the ongoing Cold War 2.0.

Americans have to have their Russian boogeyman..

As to NATO the Trump criticism was they didn't focus on terrorism - that was true,
but it changed under the Obama adm.

It's damn shame NATO expansionism still goes on - freaking McCain called Rand Paul:
"The senator from Kentucky is now working for Vladimir Putin," McCain said. "You are achieving the objectives of trying to dismember this small country, which has already been the subject of an attempted coup."

Paul shot back:
Paul called Sen. John McCain "unhinged" for accusing him of supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I think he makes a really, really strong case for term limits,” Paul (R-Ky.) said Thursday morning on MSNBC. “I think maybe he's past his prime. I think maybe he's gotten a little bit unhinged."

Montenegro may now be in the club, but will be vying with Albania for NATO's least-impressive military. It has about 2,000 soldiers, but no air force, no coast guard, and no military academy. But joining NATO, said foreign minister Srdjan Darmanovic last month, is the decision the country made when it decided to become independent.

And it's a decision that the U.S. government apparently think benefits the United States, too. As Trump's letter noted, Montenegro's accession will not increase American spending obligations. Some lawmakers went further still. Sen. John McCain, R.-Ariz., said that, far from inviting a collision with Russia, Montenegro's accession is critical for resisting it.

"The behavior on the part of the Russians throughout the region and the world is not acceptable in these times," McCain said.

NATO troops have launched their largest ever urban warfare military drills in Lithuania amid threats of all out global conflict with Russia.
The ‘Iron Sword 2016’ military drills, which are being held close to the Russian border, involve 4,000 troops from Britain, the US, Germany, Canada, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Luxembourg and three baltic states.

They are intended to last until December 2 and will prepare Nato to station 4,000 alliance troops in Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia - a decision taken at the Warsaw summit in July.

The military alliance’s decision to boost its global army presence follows Russia’s deployment of S-400 air defence systems and Iskander missile launchers to the Kaliningrad....

Trump warms to China as he abandons his foreign policy campaign pledges
Basically Adopts Foreign Policy Positions of Obama-Clinton

WASHINGTON — Nearly three months into office, President Donald Trump has dropped much of his unorthodox campaign rhetoric on foreign policy and embraced a much more establishment view that in many ways doesn't differ much from his Democratic predecessor.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, whose country he had once called an "economic enemy." He blasted Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time after he'd long been accused of being too friendly with him. He labeled Syrian President Bashar Assad a "butcher," a week after ordering a military strike that he once criticized Barack Obama for contemplating.

And he said he was 100 percent behind NATO, the military alliance created in 1949 that he has previously called "obsolete."

After his news conference with the U.N. Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House, even one-time critics couldn't help notice the change.
"What we may be seeing is a re-centering of this administration," Nicholas Burns, a former ambassador to NATO and undersecretary of state, said on MSNBC.
Perhaps most surprising was Trump's complete reversal regarding China, which he once accused of "raping" the United States and made the villain of much of his tough talk on trade during the campaign. He promised to heavily tax Chinese goods coming into the country. Less than two weeks ago, he called them the "world champions" of currency manipulation. Just last week, Trump braced for what he called "a difficult" meeting with Xi.

But on Wednesday, Trump had little but praise for China and its leader. He said that he and Xi "had a very good bonding" during their two days of meetings last week at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and he praised China for abstaining during a U.N. vote earlier in the day on a resolution on Syria that Russia vetoed.
"I think it's wonderful that they abstained," Trump said.

In a separate interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump also withdrew his pledge to label China a currency manipulator, a campaign promise that he said he would fulfill on his first day in office.

"They're not currency manipulators," Trump said, according to the Journal account.

"Gotta Dance With Him That Brung You

Only public pressure can drag Trump back out of the swamp he's been sucked into. But all I see from the GOPers is flipflopping over like a hooked fish to the newly neo-con Trump. We didn't elect him to trash the agenda we supported; he owes us, we don't owe him anything.

I believe putin & him want it to look like it is the lowest, as it suits their needs~Kabuki theater..

When Russia formed/fall of the USSR they were opposed, strongly to NATO/aka USA attacks on Serbia-things were lower then IMHO.. The various advancement of NATO to the east kept it pretty damn low IMHO..........

"Russian relations at an all time low"- even when he is making the right move he manages to be dumb. Cuban missile crisis much? Guess they don't teach that at Wharton undergrad finance program for well heeled brats.

well it IS low -how low? very low -if not the absolute lowest/

I get what you say about Putin and Russian nationalism-it's an interesting concept
but the price paid for such is exorbitant by Putin .

It's just the normal cost we pay because of Russiaphobia
