He is admitting to being a very weak willed man ...
He doesn't trust himself.
Pence sounds like a reformed alcoholic who will walk 10 extra blocks to avoid walking by a bar.
He knows that if he gives himself the opportunity he will fall to his own uncontrollable desires.

You cant know that. The fact is that he is publicly pledging (to disambiguate from actual behavior) he eliminates any situation where his self restraint can be tested. That is fully consistent with a person that has none. That you defend it only speaks to your bias, backwardness and ignorant right wing 13th century belief system.

I can't believe you support men in positions of extreme power refusing to meet a woman without witnesses. Dis fucking graceful. Yuck. Pick your battles. Or do you just defend anything and everything any Republican does no matter what?

Pence is telling us he can not trust his own animal desires.
He has no discipline on any sexual matter.

Ummm, LR is a teacher and Pastor and probably the most solid person on this board. He's also a democrat. There are plenty of people to talk shit to on this board. He's not one of them.

For example. My wife will go out with co-workers on occasion to have a few drinks and talk shop. Several of those are single males. I have never once opposed my wife going out with them as, #1. I trust her implicitly and #2. I know her character. I don't need any more than that.

I'm married and hang out with women all the time. I wouldn't do what Pence is doing but nor would I have a cow over it like you are.
 
I don't get all the hub-bub here. Every human being falls to temptation of some kind every day. It's our nature to sin. It's against our nature to rise above it, repent and receive forgiveness. God says we (those who are Christians, anyway) should avoid the appearance of sin. This is wisdom knowing that all of us would sin as much as we could get away with if we were not constrained by the love of God. Better to live free than in bondage to sin. And, every time a non-believer judges a believer, they heap judgment upon themselves...not wise.
