I've said many many times that Trump will take at least six months to learn the ropes, but he is getting there. Obama did some pretty stupid things early on, not least giving Gordon Brown 25 DVDs!! They were also Region 1 hence making them illegal to play in a Region 2 country like the UK!!
Gordon Brown had presented Obama with a pen holder crafted of wood from the HMS Gannet, an anti-slave ship previously named the HMS President. The Gannet was a sister ship to HMS Resolute, whose timbers were used to construct the desk in the Oval Office. If that wasn't an incredibly crass thing for a President to do then I don't know what is?? Oh maybe moving Churchill's bust out of the Oval Office, that would come close.

Ostensibly, but the real reason was that Flynn is a Turkish operative. trump would rather admit to the lying, than the espionage. Just as he'd rather avoid questions about libel, as opposed to questions re. inviting Russian operatives into the govt.
Telling the truth shouldn't take a learning curve unless you're five years old. The man lies uncontrollably and I don't understand why you can't see it. What do you make of trump's latest assertion that Obama was wiretapped and GCHQ was behind it? It's been all over the news how angry the Brits are because of this barking mad lie, and I'm angry with them too. He still hasn't backed off. He's willing to alienate a strong ally just to save face. This isn't learning curve stuff, it's common sense and decency.
Someday when you have time YouTube his press conferences with May, Abe, Trudeau and Merkel. Every one of these has more intelligence and leadership in their little fingers than trump has in his entire person. Look at the video of him ignoring Merkel when she said in front of the cameras "shall we have a handshake"? He hates her and shows it like the uncouth idiot he is.
That DVD gift was a stupid gaffe, no question. But it's hardly on the level of accusing your oldest ally of spying on you.

Yes he is economical with the truth, I am well aware of that. I put that down to him being a salesman at heart. That is one of the things which will have to change in future. He could probably learn a few lessons from Ma Clinton on how to tell some really big lies and get away with it.

I can't get that incensed about that, I assumed that GCHQ worked hand in glove with the NSA. One thing I have learnt over the years, you just cannot take anything at face value when it comes to the intelligence gatherers. I am thinking of the phrase plausible deniability, there is so much of that going on.
