Saudis laud 'historic turning point' after meeting with Trump

Seems the Saudis are welcoming a return of a strong man to the WH after 8 years of feckless US policy in the Middle East. It's also worth noting that the Saudis don't consider Trump's travel ban a Muslim ban; and in fact, think it's a reasonable measure.

It's interesting how Trump is considered reckless by his domestic critics; but abroad he's seen as a stable partner that won't dump you by getting cozy with Iran. Or in Israel's case, getting stabbed in the back in the 11th hour by an out going administration, that was supposedly, an ally.

It's still early, and things could fall apart for the Trump administration. But on at least two fronts [economic and foreign policy] there are encouraging signs for people who voted for Trump on the chance he could be a better than average---or even a way better than average president.

I would absolutely vote for him again. Do you hear me, Ashley Judd lol?

we damn side better repair our relationship with the Sunni states, else all we have to look forward to is Iranian expansion and more Russian influence in the mideast

In Saudi Arabia, a revolution disguised as reform
Practically, the Saudis’ plans for transformation are ambitious, designed to diversify the economy, end overreliance on oil, keep capital in the country for domestic investment, and foster both transparency and accountability. “Transparency” and “accountability” are not terms one would have used in the past to describe Saudi Arabia.

Funny. When I google "Saudis laud Trump", do you know what I get for a high hit? Your post. Nothing else. No 'lauding', moron.

Know why they don't mind the ban, simpleton? IT DOESN'T include them but does include Iran. Not too difficult to figure that out.

"President Donald Trump met with Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia in the Oval Office Thursday.

Following the meeting, neither gave statements. However, they did take the opportunity for a photo."

The lauding is overwhelming!

I don't need to copy my OP titles off media outlets lol.

Why don't the Saudis call it a Muslim ban like the brain dead media does?

laudatory? : close enough

Saudi deputy crown prince, Trump meeting a 'turning point,' Saudi advisor says
audi Arabia's Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Donald Trump agreed in a meeting on Tuesday that Iran represents a regional security threat, a senior advisor to the deputy crown prince said

The advisor also said the talks marked a "historical turning point" in U.S.-Saudi relations.

Saudi Arabia had viewed with unease the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama, whom they felt considered Riyadh's alliance with Washington less important than negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran in 2015. It has been encouraged by the Trump administration's hardline stance on Iran and its nuclear program.

"The meeting today restored issues to their right path and form a big change in relations between both countries in political, military, security and economic issues," the senior advisor said in a statement.

Wow.

Sadly, the states that matter most include those two and the likes of China. I mean, if you want to be viewed as stable by Western Europe, that's fine, but none of them are terribly relevant anymore.

Some liberal members may be unfamiliar with the verb root of laudatory lol.

Not surprisingly, there isn't much media buzz over this.

well there is now that the 9th (again) blocked a much more better crafted order.
Apparently the judge blocked it -not on the order as written itself, but on Trump's campaign rhetoric!

amazing.. the judge ignores the written order in favor of attached rhetoric..
( and thi si why I admire Constitutional textualism)
