march 2 2017 SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began the center of a national debate when he refused to stand for the National Anthem last season, reportedly will end his protest for the upcoming season.

Citing sources close to the soon-to-be free agent, ESPN Senior Writer Adam Schefter reported on Kaepernick’s decision Thursday.

He said the sources told ESPN that Kaepernick was ending his protest so as to not detract from the positive change that he believes he has has already created.

While few other NFL players joined in the protest it did spread to colleges and high schools around the country.

I don't think the moron considered that fans might boycott the NFL for his hate-america stance. His teammates let him know that they don't appreciate him taking money out of their pocket and they refused to protect their big-mouthed quarterback.

Yeah - i read that and fell out of my chair. Positive change??? He didn't accomplish anything. Everybody laughed at this multi-millionaire whining about oppression!!!

We are so f'd as an organization with Jed York at the helm I don't know if there is any redeeming us. We need to get a QB in the draft however hopefully we do not take one at #2 because there is no one worthy of going that high.

Hey, I'm a Bills fan - same boat. I was hoping SF would trade for Jimmy G. I do NOT want to see that guy w/ the Pats for another 10 years.

I want Buffalo to take Watson at the #10 spot. He's got some flaws, but he can really compete. Loved him in that NC game.

Nonsense. Kap donated well over $1 million thus far for community programs since he started his refusal to stand. I'm a bit put off that he didn't focus on a 'get out the vote' campaign, not to mention not voting himself. If the black community voted this election, we wouldn't have an orange clown in the White House.

I wish all those rich you claim fight for the rights of the "less fortunate" would have done something to keep so many off food stamps. Why didn't they buy the food for those freeloaders instead of taxpayers being forced to do it?

The black community didn't have a motivation to vote. One of their own wasn't running. Strange how the voting numbers for black go way up to historical high levels when Obama was running and drop off when a black isn't up for election. Coincidence?

As long as you keep getting them so that buying food doesn't cut into your beer, cigarette and scratch off lottery ticket money is all that should matter.
