This is why Syrian refugees want to come to the US and other countries, not the made-up reasons rabid righties are pushing.

"Syrian authorities have killed at least 13,000 people since the start of the 2011 uprising in mass hangings at a prison north of Damascus known to detainees as "the slaughterhouse," Amnesty International said in a report Tuesday. It covers the period from 2011 to 2015, when Amnesty said 20-50 people were hanged each week at Saydnaya Prison in killings authorized by senior Syrian officials, including deputies of President Bashar Assad, and carried out by military police.

The report referred to the killings as a "calculated campaign of extrajudicial execution."

Amnesty has recorded at least 35 different methods of torture in Syria since the late 1980s, practices that only increased since 2011, said Lynn Maalouf, deputy director for research at Amnesty's regional office in Beirut.Other rights groups have found evidence of massive torture leading to death in Syrian detention facilities. In a report last year, Amnesty found that more than 17,000 people have died of torture and ill-treatment in custody across Syria since 2011, an average rate of more than 300 deaths a month...

"The horrors depicted in this report reveal a hidden, monstrous campaign, authorized at the highest levels of the Syrian government, aimed at crushing any form of dissent within the Syrian population," Maalouf said.

These executions take place after a sham trial that lasts over a minute or two minutes, but they are authorized by the highest levels of authority," including the Grand Mufti, a top religious authority in Syria, and the defense minister, she said.

Maybe we should stop pretending people are desperate to leave Syria just so they can come here and pull off acts of terror.

Assad denies it ( the executions). I've seen amnesty get it wrong in Libya -so who knows?

But we can't solve Syria's problems -if not Assad then who?
Nor is it up to the USA to take in tens/hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, just because it's a failed state.
There are failed states/human rights victims all over the world =many in that "list of 7" -so why just Syria?

Lol, of course he denies it. Who would admit to it?

Personally I have no problem with humanitarian efforts to resettle these people where they're safe. The U.S. rejected thousands of Jews fleeing from Nazi Germany in the '30s, to our everlasting shame. And taking in Syrians during a crisis doesn't mean every single one of them would stay here forever. They could return when the crisis was over.

Syria has been by far the biggest producer of refugees for the past few years. Nearly half the country has been displaced. Before that ironically it produced virtually no refugees:

it should be at least 13,003. the people responsible for the entire bloody mess should be hanged by assad: barack hussein obama, hillary roddamned clinton and for continuing the caliphate building policy of the two former: john worthless piece of shit kerry. If I had a say, I would load their worthless asses on a plane today and drop those three right in assad's lap, to meet the fate of the rope. those three and many more lesser such as cfan and all jpp lefties and all dem voters are directly responsible for every drop of blood which has been absorbed by the dust in syria. damn you all. the whole middle east in crisis/ refugees is a politically created blood bath with the intended consequence which troubles the innocent people in this land. right on schedule.

As of 2015, approximately 83,000 people born in Syria resided in the United States.

Our overall foreign-born population is about 43.3 million.

Can we 'save' everybody ?

 That number goes back 100 years. Note the word "resided", rather than "reside.'"

"It is worth noting that although Syrian refugees represent a new flow to the United States, the broader Syrian immigrant community, while quite small in size, has had a U.S. presence since the late 19[SUP]th[/SUP] century."

The grammar nazi strikes again.....nice spin.....lame, but nice.

The 2011 Arab Spring protests started this violent conflict calling for AL-Assad's removal....Civil War.
The Syrian government describes them as armed terrorist groups.

The players : the Syrian Government and its various supporters,
Sunni Arab rebel groups (including the Free Syrian Army),
the majority-Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces,
Salafi jihadist groups (including al-Nusra Front)
and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Kinda resembles what the liberal Democrats are trying to
do here in the US since Trump was democratically elected.
Ferment Civil war.

Don't pretend you suddenly care about the welfare of Jews. You've expressed your hatred for them, Israel and their religion many times.

And your socialist hero, FDR, was a bigoted Jew hating socialist democrat pig just like you. He hated Jews because they were successful, not because they wanted to kill infidels like the Left's pet religion.

Maybe Obama should have drawn a red-line at the use of rope.

Obama never cared enough to do anything other than line his pockets. How do you go from 2 million in net worth, to more than 12 million, as a public servant? The shrillness of the left over Trump policies that are aimed at protecting Americans is astounding. Meanwhile they ignored the thousands of drone strikes Obama did killing brown people, his worse than ineffective foreign policy, and his public thievery in the disaster known as Obamacare gets little to no air time with their obnoxious screaming.

BTW did you notice that most of the vagina heads were ugly shrill old white women?

Syrian refugees are NEVER going to want to return in our lifetime . The country is in ruins -
there is nothing to go back to.
Better the intelligentsia stay and help rebuild

Finally we have a leftist posting Obamas real legacy. Here it is folks- Obama created a refugee crisis of proportions never seen before in Syria.

Michele has her own 24 million too, so that 8 year gig was worth about 25 million dollars for the couple.....

and Trump can't have the Japanese PM stay at Mar a Lago or have foreign dignitary's stay at his hotels for fear he might add 50 bucks to his billions....laughable....

Yep, it's part of Hussein "Islam first" Obama's agenda to help the global spread of Islam.

You can try and move the goalposts once again, but the chart doesn't lie.
