Trump's campaign was putting out some hints that his speech would be like the speech after he won the election. Not so much, I guess.

THAT is what he starts with? What a dark, dismal view of America - and what a heap of generalizations in terms of how he's going to "fix things." And I don't care if people think it's a warm & fuzzy snowflake thing: after one of the most bruising, divisive elections in history, you HAVE to at least make a token effort at healing & unifying.

I don't think I have ever felt so pessimistic in my life, about anything. And I'm a Buffalo Bills fan who thinks they're going to the Superbowl every September.

I'm optimistic that he can undo 8 yrs of obamaism quicker than anyone else would. As Charles Krauthammer says , Obama will be a parentheses in history.
I'm greatly relieved hrc is gone.

nationalism doesnt really have any set progressive or conservative principles just doing whats best for the country.

For instance if every other country has been bombed to oblivion and we are the only ones who can produce stuff then free trade is awesome! If everyone can compete at the same level then free trade sucks.

Here is a thought experiment for you. What if anything has YOUR SIDE done to try to unify and get along with Trump?

You treat him with nothing but derision and scorn

PS: I am stunned you hated his speech. I am going to go out a limb here and predict you will hate his SOTU speech too.

Obama has been great w/ Trump. So has Chuck Schumer.

Sorry - those are the only leaders we have right now.

What party is boycotting his inauguration ?

Whose followers are marching, protesting, smashing car windows and starting fires in the streets ?

and you expect Trump to make an effort at healing and unifying.....

why don't you demand the same effort from your side of the fence ?
All it would take is for them to shut the fuck up and go home....you too.

NO. Obama has been terrible. He has committed the US to so many far reaching things foreign policy wise that he did not need to in his lame duck period.

After 8 years of having smoke blown up your arse maybe you got used to ignoring just how badly your boy f"ed things up. I noted when Trump hit the trail with MAGA how impossible that was to hear from a pol.
Of course he's not a Pol so not only did he get away with it, he just got sworn into office with it.
