My understanding is that Russia attend access to these emails after they were stolen. If Trump solicited a foreign government to steal the emails that would be treason. If on the other hand from solicited a foreign government to simply release the emails after the fact I don't think that would be treason.

i read the article and it is a typical altright hit piece with certain disclaimers like "numerous agencies besides the state dept had to sign off on the project" and "the authorization would be made at state at levels below the sec.". also, the decision to do this was made at a time when russian/usa relations were friendlier. not the best move our nation has ever made. also, if things get bad between russia and the usa the deal may be abrogated... this is not 'proof'.
