Texas governor says he will ban sanctuary cities

I'll interject a little fun factoid about the Federal Government and State Law.
If 2 residence of the same state sell one another a gun in a private sale. As long as they abide by the State laws they are in the Feds have absolutely nothing to say about it. No Fed background check nothing.
10th Amendment. Nothing the Feds can do. Period.
Here in Texas if I sell a gun in a private sale I must:
To the best of my ability determine the buyer is 21 or older, a Resident of Texas and not a gang member. I don't have to see his/her ID nothing. To the best of my ability.....that's it. 10th Amendment in full force.
Now if I sold a gun to somebody outside the State all Federal Laws come into play.
 
You guys are totally missing the point of what is happening here. Feds have nothing to do with any of this.
Texas has laws that the Sheriff in Dallas/ City of Austin aren't following STATE LAW of harboring illegals/criminals. She and the City of Austin are in deep shit. County/City will be stripped of all State funding and her big ass/Austin mayor and city council can/will be found in Contempt.

Lots of conservatives would disagree. The states are supposed to be sovereign countries. The federal govt exists alongside them, not above them. The Supremacy Clause in the constitution is often quoted as saying federal laws are above state laws but that's not what it says.

Yup - states are openly defying the federal law on that point and getting away with it. That's why trump needs to cut federal funding for states that allow sanctuary cities. He also needs to prosecute city officials PERSONALLY who encourage illegals to live in their city.

really?......is that why no state police give Miranda warnings?.......is that why NYC policemen can arrest UN delegates?.....the cities and states cannot IGNORE federal law......
