Parliamentary and Electoral College are the same thing really.
You vote for a local representation and then those elected reps vote for the national leader. So it is the same thing just we (and others) use state by state electoral votes based on population by state etc.
The Founders knew if they didnt follow the lead of others you would end up with nothing but the big population centers electing the President and rural America would have no voice.
It is really a very fair system friend.

It is fair, and there's no good reason to abandon it except that liberals came out on the short end of it lol. Take it to the bank: they would defend the electoral college to their dying breath if Trump won the popular vote but lost the election.
But it is what it is and it's not going anywhere. Besides, liberals can win the electoral count---they did twice in a row over the past decade.
Their problem is that it's going to get harder to do in the future because it turned out that identity politics had an expiration date after all [who saw that coming after 2008-2012?]. They can no longer ignore the Rust Belt and working stiffs; they will have to give ground on some of their pet fantasies like climate change. They need to realize many, many, voters care more about jobs than which stalls trans genders urinate in.
In short, if they get back to serious issues and govern like adults, democrats can be first to 270. There's no need to change anything.
