Less than 24 hours after Republican Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, his statement calling for a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the U.S. mysteriously vanished from his campaign website.

In the Dec. 7, 2015, statement Trump, pointed to polling data that suggested 25 percent of Muslims support violence against Americans: "Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anyone the hatred is beyond comprehension."

But, without explanation, the signature campaign message is no longer on the president-elect's website, and the page where it once was now redirects to a donation page.

Trump's proposed ban on an entire religion entering the U.S. sparked tremendous backlash — but also tremendous support from groups like the alt-right.

Fear-mongering and anger were central to Trump's message on Muslims, and the candidate doubled-down on the idea after several terror attacks in the U.S., most recently the Chelsea bombing.

The increased use of dog-whistle language has led to an uptick in Islamophobic attacks in 2016. Trump's win on election night has already stoked fear in U.S. Muslims, some women opting to not wear a hijab out of worry of racial abuse.

Trump's campaign has yet to release a statement on the statement's removal from the website.

For months Trump has modified what he originally said in December of '15. He's been saying for months "we need extreme vetting."

From DJT website:

Defeat the ideology of radical Islamic terrorism just as we won the Cold War.

Establish new screening procedures and enforce our immigration laws to keep terrorists out of the United States.

Suspend, on a temporary basis, immigration from some of the most dangerous and volatile regions of the world that have a history of exporting terrorism.

Establish a Commission on Radical Islam to identify and explain to the American public the core convictions and beliefs of Radical Islam, to identify the warning signs of radicalization, and to expose the networks in our society that support radicalization.

I said on here some time back that he was saying what he thought his audience wanted to hear. There will far more retrenchment as time goes on, some people are far too credulous and gullible.

thank you for that clarity. Clinton wanted 65k Syrian ( regional) refugees next year ( impossible to vet that many that quick)

Since they let him get away w/ being on every side of every issue there is nothing to hold him to....

He is already taking the Muslim ban down from his campaign site.....

trump and his minions are trying to have it both ways now that the election is over. I posted his website statement here on October 7 and as the article says, the link now leads to his donation page.

If he changed his mind that's a promise he broke to his fearful supporters. Or else Pence is a liar.

His supporters are credulous and gullible if they think trump can snap his fingers and make all his promises come true.

No Muslim ban, no stinking wall & what about all those jobs the illegals are doing that no American wants?? The ones many of his unemployed fans will be doing once 12 million ppl are "missing" in the work force.......

He will offer as much retrenchment as his predecessor, Hitler. This is an occupation. This is not a presidency.
