Mott the Hoople
Sweet Jane
I dug up and saw "Falling Down" again, with Michael Douglas. Probably his best movie. It's scary, in a sense, on how prophetic the movie is. It's 20 years ahead of it's time as it goes a long way of explain the current political mood we see in a large segment of our population. That is, you play the game by the rules, you do things the right way, you work hard and you earn the American dream. So many people today feel that the game has been rigged (and it has) they have been robbed of this unspoken promise and did play by the rules, did the right things and worked hard only to end up losing...and now they're pissed.
Great movie and it's end scene really strikes home and resonates with a lot of people with the classic line "I'm the bad guy?" To many people now are asking how that happened?
I know that when the movie was first released it was an attempt to explain how a very small number of normal appearing people went over the edge. What's scary now is that this movie now explains around how a quarter of the nation feels.
That's some food for thought.
