It was a non-issue when he was going full force on it years ago, but his ego wouldn't let him admit it until the other day. And we all know that his handlers forced that out of him. Left to his own pathologically lying ego, he would never have made the declaration he did.

So a couple of factual points

1) it was Obama's bio for his first book that first mentioned him being born in Kenya in 1991

2) it wasn't changed until 2007 when he decided to run for President

One should ask, where did the literary agent get that he was born in Kenya?

The only real public record of him was a Times piece but that mentioned he was born in Hawaii.

Any good literary agent would have run the bio by Obama

It wasn't like they could have looked it up on the internets. Gores invention wasn't ubiquitous yet

The only logical place they could have gotten it was Obama. Obama was the original birther. Of course since he has sealed his college transcripts we can't know if he used the "born in Kenya" schtick before.
