WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump abruptly postponed plans to announce his vice presidential pick following a day of rampant speculation, citing the "horrible attack" in Nice, France, that left scores dead.

Trump had planned to hold his first event with his yet-to-be-named running mate Friday morning in New York. He announced the change of plans Thursday evening on Twitter.

The stunning announcement raised questions about the status of Trump's selection process. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence had emerged as a late favorite for the job, though Trump said he had not finalized the pick and advisers cautioned he could change his mind.

"I haven't made my final, final decision," Trump said on Fox News Channel. He said that while his running mate selection would "absolutely not" be changed by the France attack, he did not feel it was appropriate to hold a news conference in its aftermath.

What's to be impatient for? I know whoever he picks will be diametrically opposite of everything I support. They're all made from the same cookie cutter.
 
The smart man will wait until the media has milked all they can get out of the tragic deaths in France. Then proceed. There is nothing wrong with being smarter than your average Hildabeast. :clink:
 
What does the attack in Nice, has to do with Trump announcing your VP pick? Trump is not president and can not take an actions regarding the attack in Nice? Pence has until noon today, to decide if he is running for re-election as governor of Indiana?

As was stated....why should the Donald care about anyone besides the Donald? There are any number of self serving politicians waiting in line to lick the Donald's boot. :) The left wing press will MILK the deaths of the innocent for money as long as the sponsors continue to foot the bill. Then the Donald will get the free pub back on track.

Exactly. Something funny's going on in the Trump camp and he needed an excuse to postpone. Maybe Pence came to his senses and decided he doesn't want any part of this. He has a noon deadline today to withdraw from the governor's race and maybe he weighed the chances of becoming VP against being re-elected governor.

Friday is a lousy day for an announcement any way. It's right before the weekend when people tend to tune out the news. Friday is for 'news dumps' where you make an unfortunate announcement in the hopes that something happens over the weekend and bumps it out of the news cycle the following week lol.

It's much ado about not a whole lot, otherwise.

The real reason was that he was not going to get enough attention because there was suddenly a bigger story. He was trying to find a way to recapture the headline.
