Gingrich calls for Muslim test

Hours after a truck ran down and killed at least 80 people and injured scores more in Nice, Newt Gingrich called for a Muslim test.

In an appearance on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," Gingrich said that every person "who is of a Muslim background" in America should face a test.

"We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported," he told host Sean Hannity. "Sharia is incompatible with western civilization. Modern Muslims, who have given up Sharia -- glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door."

Further, the act of visiting a website that favors ISIS or al Qaeda should be a felony, Gingrich declared.

And Gingrich also suggested that not only should every "internet-based source of terrorism" be shut down. If that's not possible, he called for more drastic action.

"We should destroy them with kinetic power, using various weapons starting with predators and frankly just killing them," he said.

good god..shut down the accounts, but not a "felony"..restrict from so called "terrorist countries" -with extreme vetting
or even temporary bans -but not based on religion

Rule of law. I wonder what Gingrich would use as the legal basis for these actions.

Not the way he worded it. I dunno if you can be a Muslim and not believe in Sharia; but, if a given Muslim holds that Sharia is a corpus for civil law pertaining to non-Muslim---then that becomes an interesting constitutional question, because such individuals would be predisposed to sedition.

The felony thing is a non-starter. You can't do that---and I'm sure Gingrich is aware of it. Which makes me wonder if he's borrowed from Trump's playbook lol.

How about the oath of most office holders in gov......to protect the country from all enemies, foreign and domestic.....the number ONE duty of gov.

or

Holding Sharia law above the laws of the United States.....

You can't claim to stand for limited gov't and religious freedom and make this kind of statement. It's asinine

No, I wouldn't be good with any kind of religious test, but Gingrich specified Muslims already living here, not incoming. How can he possibly justify that under our laws?

Where the hell are you supposed to deport an American citizen to? You deport someone to the land where they hold citizenship. The only place to deport an American citizen to is right back to America. We can't force another country to accept a person who's never stepped foot in that country before. This is retarded.

Let's deport Newt Gingrich.
 
Anybody who had to take these tests would obviously just research the answers that don't get them punished and recite them in rote. What a useless spectacle.
