Brexit: No EU compromise on freedom of movement

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36659900

European Union leaders have warned that the UK must honour the principle of free movement of people if it wants to retain access to the single market after it leaves the bloc.

European Council President Donald Tusk said the UK could not pick and choose.

The French and German leaders also made clear that the freedom of movement of EU citizens was non-negotiable.

Immigration to the UK, particularly from poorer EU countries, was a key issue in the referendum campaign.

Some campaigners for Leave sent a clear message that the vote was about controlling immigration levels.

Outgoing UK Prime Minister David Cameron said that the issue of freedom of movement would be for the next PM and government to decide.

"I'm in no doubt that this is the difficult issue," he told MPs in Westminster.

"Frankly, it's a difficult issue inside the EU, where you've got all the negotiating ability to try and change things, and I think it will be in many ways even more difficult from outside."

However EU leaders appear united after Wednesday's meeting that there will be no "nuances", as Mr Juncker put it, for the UK.

Le Pen and Salvini will bring France and Italy on board with the nationalist English, won't they?

There are nationalist far-right movements in many EU countries who will support the English demands.

Here in the USA rightist nationalists are part of the Trump machine.

I just wrote about this in another thread and yes, the immigration issue was the driving issue. Perhaps this can still be remedied because even other EU members know it is a huge problem.

Its also about self determination and breaking away from brussels. They can trade under the rules of the wto if necessary which they are both members of.

NO freedom of movement? NO access to EU markets!

Total bullshit, have you never heard of the WTO? If the EU imposed their max. tariff of 10% on cars for instance, the Germans car companies would go apeshit!! They sell us 800,000 cars a year ffs.

What they say and what actually happens is 10 different things. There are many EU member-States that support the UK, and who also supported controlled immigration, so take what France and Germany say with a grain of salt.

Wow, somebody in the US that actually gets it, well done sir!

Sure Poland for instance dislikes immigration outside the EU, but do you really think you're going to get them onboard with an agreement that prohibits Poles from going to the UK? The EU countries that are against immigration are the ones that most want the ability to immigrate to UK. They are the ones that are going to be pushing hardest for no compromise on freedom of movement with countries that have access to EU markets.

You'll be hurt worse. I hope you never have to see a brown persons face again in your life, though. It will totally be worth a massive increase in unemployment.
