Last week, the MP was interviewed by police under caution after he was accused of inciting racial hatred by declaring his constituency, Bradford West, an "Israel-free zone".

In a speech he gave in Leeds on 2 August he said: "We don't want any Israeli goods; we don't want any Israeli services; we don't want any Israeli academics coming to the university or the college; we don't even want any Israeli tourists to come to Bradford, even if any of them had thought of doing so."

Jo Cox was to launch a report in Parliament on the dangers of nationalist radicals later this month, it has emerged.

The report, which was set to be launched along with the video on 29 June, warned of an increase in Islamophobia and increasing aggressive action by far-right nationalists in the past year.

The video apparently shows her saying she had spoken about stopping Islamophobia and mentioning that in her constituency "many young women don't feel safe when they're out on the street".

There were significant clusters of far-right activity during that time in Yorkshire.

In the last 18 months South Yorkshire is one of the leading areas in the country for Islamophobic incidents.

MPs are returning to Westminster today to pay tribute to Mrs Cox. In a break with Commons tradition MPs from different parties may sit together, rather than dividing along party lines with Government supporters on one side of the House and the opposition on the other.

However, Tory MP and Brexit supporter Andrew Murrison posted a tweet accusing Remain of "spinning Jox Cox murder for partisan advantage". He deleted it.
