It must be a magical time to be a racist

Back to the minimum wage discussion. Why do you think they want to move it to $15 instead of any amount higher? We all know cost of living is different across the country but wouldn't $18, $20 or $22 be more helpful to a family?

The answer of course is there would be negative effects attached to it. We even hear Democrats saying $15 is too much in some areas.

I'm curious what you think the reason is they don't ask for higher?

They need to make it $100,000 an hour......then we can all have millions of dollars.......

no more so than any other person works by choice.....crops and livestock need to be cared for......a person is always free to sit on a busy corner holding a sign saying "Please help".......

 They can spend their lives in a cubicle or retail or another 9-5 job that doesn't involve getting up at 4AM to feed livestock.

as I said, every working person is free to make their choices.....but once someone chooses to be a farmer you don't decide to stay in bed and call the cows and tell them you're taking the day off.....

I don't know why $15 was chosen and haven't been able to find anything on it. Do you know? Maybe there's some correlation with the cost of living.

Here's something you might appreciate Cawacko, a study from Ohio State.

POVERTY, NOT RACE, TIED TO HIGH CRIME RATES IN URBAN COMMUNITIES

COLUMBUS, Ohio --
Violent crime rates have more to do with poverty levels in a neighborhood than with the race of local residents, new research has found.

A study of Columbus neighborhoods found that violent crime rates in extremely disadvantaged white neighborhoods were very similar to rates in comparable Black neighborhoods. The violent crime rate in highly disadvantaged Black areas was 22 per 1,000 residents, not much different from the 20 per 1,000 rate in similar white communities.

There are still many people who mistakenly believe there is something about Black neighborhoods that make them more violent and prone to crime, said Lauren Krivo, co-author of the study and associate professor of sociology at Ohio State University.

Our research shows that neighborhoods with the most crime tend to be those with the highest rates of poverty and other types of disadvantage -- regardless of whether they are predominantly Black or white.

In this study, overall rates of violence were nearly three times as high in Black neighborhoods as in white neighborhoods. But that's because Black neighborhoods are much more likely than white ones to be highly disadvantaged, she said.

Krivo conducted the study with Ruth Peterson, a professor of sociology at Ohio State. Their study was published in the current issue of the journal Social Forces.

And why do blacks opt for poverty ?
Why do they chose to be uneducated ?
Why has the 50 year war on poverty been an epic fail ?
It's not genetic. It's not for lack of money.

I can't believe you think blacks "opt" for poverty. Do you say the same thing about poor whites? And about their educational limitations also?

My city is around 27% black and I see them at all points on the economic spectrum, but it seems that some people here are only familiar with the lower end. It's myopic.

Could this disturbing statistic be a contributing factor to crime in the black community?

Because they attend church?

I have to thank Trump for opening my eyes to the American ugly I didn’t want to see.

I know what racist people have been saying about Obama for the last eight years.

But what I didn’t understand until this election, is how disgusting it is to read what some of them write on public forums, or to hear them say out loud what they really think.

The racists and bigots of America have always been out there. But now they are emboldened in a big way by Trump. He’s opened Pandora’s box, and nobody can shut it.

Imagine if you will, for a moment, being Malia Obama this week, thrilled to be going to Harvard, excited about the prospects of a gap year. She’s a 17-year-old high school senior, doing what millions of other 17-year-olds — like my own daughter — are doing now. They’re deciding on schools and making plans for their futures. They have big dreams, and an optimistic outlook. I just hope Malia didn’t read the comments following the story about her college plans on Fox’s website. It got so bad Fox had to shut down the comments section.

They called her “little monkey,” and “little ape.” One poster hoped she would get AIDS.

“I wonder if she applied as a muDslime..or a foreign student..or just a Ni@@,” wrote another poster. That one got the most likes.

The comments go on and on.

The astonishing thing is that some of the posters used what appeared to be their full names. No shame in being a vile, racist, pig.

Not when the possible future leader of the free world doesn’t know to disavow the KKK, shouts plans to build walls and keep Muslims out at every rally, calls people nasty names and disparages women. The presumptive nominee for President of the United States eggs on the racists and the bigots. He gives them a voice where they had none.

Take the case of Julia Ioffe, a prominent Russian-American writer who published a researched article in GQ Magazine about Melania Trump. It wasn’t a particularly flattering profile of Donald’s third wife. And that made Trump’s supporters very angry, because freedom of the press is not to be tolerated in Trump’s America.

Within hours of the article’s publication, Ioffe, who is Jewish, received a call from an anonymous caller who played part of a Hitler speech into the phone. Someone posted photos of her head superimposed on a mug shot from Auschwitz. Someone sent her a photo of a cartoon man with a large nose, kneeling down as a bullet blasts through his brain.

The comments go on and on. Trump has been mute.

In his victory speech after Indiana, Trump said, “we’re going to love each other, and cherish each other.”

Trumptards tend to be racists.

oh look. there is some dog shit stuck on my shoes...
get a life Rune..and quit dogging me around when you have nothing to say.I mentioned O'Malley as urban policy is that "support"?

How many deaths from O'Malley?
How many fatherless children, lost, broken homes?

if you truly believed this then you would be against illegal immigration and outsourcing because they directly remove money from circulation via remittances and companies using their profits in the US to invest abroad.

tldr you would be supporting trump instead of clinton.

Dems are against illegal imigration, and against outsourcing idiot.
Both are tools of the 1%.
