The Treasury Department will announce on Wednesday afternoon that Harriet Tubman, who ferried thousands of slaves to freedom, will replace the slaveholding Andrew Jackson on the center of a new $20 note, according to a Treasury official.

Other depictions of women and civil rights leaders will also be part of new currency designs.

They were originally going to put a woman on the 10. And share it with Alexander Hamilton. What a dumb idea. Andrew Jackson always stuck out like a sore thumb as the most undeserving person on our currency. Even if it was another president, why not Teddy Roosevelt, Truman, or Eisenhower?

Maybe someday if you earn your own currency, your opinion about what's on it will matter.

Why not Tubman? That woman had more balls and courage than the vast majority of men do. If she had ever been caught by Southern sympathizers she would have met a horrible, horrible death yet she never let that deter her and she was the primary architect of the underground Railway.

Her raids she led into the south to pick up runaway blacks and bring them north was not only extraordinarily dangerous she did it with a level of skill that the CIA would have admired.

Tubman should be exalted in every public place in America along with that great Ohioan Wm. T. Sherman.

I am just glad we got a 2 for 1 deal on our token minority representation for currency. A minority and a woman. BOOYA. Hopefully this will pacify everyone now.

Like it or not, the amount of influential women with regards to the history of the united states you could probably count on one hand. Men have been the juggernauts of our history and the pool for acceptable candidates for the male sex is very deep. I'm glad we can go back to business as usual. Tubman is what you get. Now no more whining.

OH quit being a pussy. You just got your panties in a wad cause Tubman had more balls than you do.

Well, she is historically significant and I've heard of her. Did this Jackson do anything for freedom?

About time you put Paul Robeson, by far the most admirable Twentieth Century American, on all your notes, incidentally.

Another case of double affirmative action. She was chosen because she's black and female.

Fact is no woman has ever done anything of much consequence. We need to honor people who have actually contributed to america like a great scientist or businessman or inventor. I say thomas edison or henry ford or steve jobs.
