Playing The Abortion Card Against Trump

Trump: This issue should have belonged to the states.

Me: Same, and I've been saying it for years.

I'm sick of this dead horse issue. Abortion isn't going anywhere because the Supreme Court has the power to create laws. Women who want their abortion protected as their sacred cow because they want to be independent from men have nothing to fear. Anti Trump forces are playing the abortion card against Trump because he's supposed to hate women.

First it was Trump ordering his campaign manager to assault a woman reporter. Now it's the abortion card.

Reagan was pro life, both Bushes were pro life. Before them, Both Jack and Bobby Kennedy were pro life and Roe Vs. Wade is still in effect and the sacred cow of certain women is still legal.

1) Democrats always play the abortion card against Republicans. This is not new nor is it unique to Trump in this election.

2) Trump was an idiot for making the comment he did that women should be punished. it just shows he wasn't prepared on this issue which is pathetic because as a Republican you know you are going to be attack on abortion.

Abortion card? How is it that you fall for this whiny-assed bullshit?

Republicans have clearly made it a priority to make getting an abortion harder. Many of them do want to outlaw it and Trump claims to want the same. They have also stress that it is urgent to elect a Republican this time due to the Supreme Court (which is why it was so important all the other times to vote for whatever douchebag they nominated) and its impact on this and other issues.

The question Chris Matthews asked was no gotcha, it's a serious question on what that will look like.

Trump gave the honest answer. He is an idiot only because he did not give the bullshit pc version. Of course, women will be punished if abortion is outlawed. There is no way to effectively interfere in this without punishing women.

Remove card and say issue if that makes you feel better. If you are running for President as a Republican you better be prepared to answer questions about abortion.

I can't claim to follow the abortion all that closely but I've not heard anyone say that a woman should be punished by law for having an abortion.

I think his gaffe wouldn't have gotten this much play if he didn't have such a long & rich history of denigrating women.

Trump has unsalvagable problems with women, and they are well-earned. It will sink his chances for the Presidency.

Oh yes there is. I doubt it would ever happen, but abortion is a medical procedure, right? Isn't that what the left always says?

Well, the AMA could step in and decide that the human fetus deserves to be treated like any other human being, after all. The idea is really not that far-fetched thanks to advances in medical imagery. Even early stage fetus'es looks very much like a baby---and if it quacks it's a duck. As such they deserve the protection of the 'first do no harm' ethical principle. So, they will no longer respect the medical license of any practitioners that perform abortions for any other reason apart from the mothers life being in grave danger.

All of a sudden the courts are irrelevant. Wouldn't that be something lol.

That change would make quite a difference but is incongruous with the rest.

Democrats always play the abortion issue against Republicans. This is not new nor is it unique to Trump in this election.

... Still seems to imply that it was some sort of gotcha question rather than a legitimate question concerning an issue of interest to many voters.

Certainly, there are some saying a women should be punished and the rest of the pro-lifers are absolutely full of shit. Again, of course they will punish women. How else will they prohibit them from seeking an abortion?

Outlaw abortion and it will not be long until we are locking up women for having miscarriages.

LOL, the fetus looks like a baby. Yeah, that is, basically, the definition of fetus, nitwit.

None of that will stop abortions. You might not be aware of this but it is physically possible to perform a medical procedure without a license and there are many people who do just that. What you suggest will only help to ensure that the procedure is performed by less qualified people.

My first comment had nothing to do with Chris Matthews. If you run for President there are certain areas/topics you better be knowledgeable about and conversant on. As a Republican abortion is one of those topic. Do you disagree with that premise?

Do you invoke the slippery slope in all of your debates or just when neccessary lol?

Why doesn't someone ask Hillary why she would never personally have an abortion [hypothetically, since she's post menopausal] and hold her feet to the fire until she answers it?

I think, it is true for the candidate of any party. Abortion is a hot issue.

If you are seeking change on this or any issue you are going to be asked questions.

It's more like a very steep waterslide.

Now do you care to explain how the state will respond once your ridiculous fairy tale "solution" concerning medical licenses fails, because that is not going to stop women from getting abortions?

Uhh, because it's not very relevant to anything? Who would vote for a President based on what choices they may make in their personal life? Most are a bit more concerned about what sort of public policies they intend to implement.

Yeah, sure we can make abortion illegal without punishing women. And it's unfaaaaairrr that the poor poor mistweated wittle Wepubwicans are asked where it will lead.

Tell that bullshit lie to this lady who was forced to carry a stillborn because of Texas' big government regulations on procreation.

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friend...to-carry-stillborn-20-week-old-fetus-to-term/

...Taylor, 23, felt something abnormal and since their last pregnancy ended in miscarriage, they rushed to the hospital. By the time they got there, Fox’s feet were already pushing through his mother’s cervix. Doctors tried several emergency measures to stop the preterm labor, including putting Taylor on an incline in the hopes that they could perform a cervical cerclage — a procedure in which doctors stitch shut the cervix. Nothing worked. Nothing could save him.

The doctors and nurses at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin cried with them, but said because of Texas law HB2, they could not help speed Taylor’s labor. Technically, the baby was healthy and the mother was healthy, so to induce labor would be an abortion, and to do it at this stage in the pregnancy would be illegal.

The Mahaffeys were sent home to wait for their baby to die or for Taylor’s labor to progress. “We cried ourselves to sleep, waiting for him to come,” Daniel said in an interview with The Daily Beast.

When Taylor started bleeding, [four days later], they went back to the hospital, but with Fox’s heart still beating, doctors couldn’t legally interfere.

“Eventually she was just screaming at them to get the child out of her,” Daniel said.

And you whine that you are somehow mistreated by being asked questions on this issue? Fuck you!

Yes, I agree with you on both counts. (surprised cawacko?) This is just part of the democrat strategy of the war on women. The problem for republicans, and not just Trump, is that they don't have a counter strategy for it.

They'd better somehow find one.

Negate it by stressing national security. Women think about security before their uterus.

So none of you have anything to say about this? Or is it that your sympathies have been overtaxed by the horror that poor poor Donald had to endure, answering that question and can't spare the energy to give a fuck about the realities of how your policy positions play out.

Abortion is never an issue in British politics, none of the parties have ever advocated repealing the law.
