Obama-Backed Solar Plant Could Be Shut Down For Not Producing Enough Energy

Are you comparing the space program to Obamas solar boondoggles?

You are dodging my question. Your side keeps saying the government makes "investments". Well the goal of any investment is to yield a monetary return at some future point in time. PERIOD

Ask Topspin
The US government is not a business and returns on investments do not always have to be monetary to be valuable to the nation..
I'm saying the government has had a big hand in developing important technologies for a long time and we have all benefited by those developments immensely. Much of what the space program tried to develop turned into expensive dead ends and much of what it developed enriched our lives and accelerated technological breakthroughs forever.
You can't get one without some of the other. It is the nature of R and D.

I saw Kathleen Harris on TV yesterday praising solar.

You are now supposed to be prosolar idiot

didnt you get he current meme memo?

I was trying to say that sporadic failures don't make the whole program of R&D investment a failure. That of course you're going to have some that pan out & some that don't. I thought that was fairly obvious.

Sporadic ? That's a joke, right ?

Yes, this is how BUSINESS works, but business also exists to make a profit and we are constantly told that you can't run government like a business. So which is it?

Should the federal government really be investing in businesses? You don't think that reeks?

Like I said - these aren't huge budget dollars. Private investment tends to follow public investment. We all have an interest in seeing domestic energy sources develop more quickly.

Hey - Bush invested over $1.5 trillion abroad, and all we got out of it was ISIS.

I always smh when I see you guys getting all offended by a $1.6 billion loss. What is that...about what we spent in the average day in Iraq?

You miss the point. Nothing in the constitution about giving tax dollars to cronies but there us for defense.

We didn't need to go to Iraq for "defense." Iraq wasn't even a threat to its immediate neighbors.

As for defense, developing domestic sources of energy is - without doubt - a national security issue. If we didn't rely on Mideast oil, we wouldn't be involved there, and we wouldn't give that region billions of our dollars.

We don't rely on ME oil. Rationalization is not in the constitution and enriching friends still isn't.
